OK guys, I've wasted a day in a "poor, poor pitiful me" session.  Now, it's time to get back on the horse and try again!  Those of you who have followed my "difficulties" know that I really do NEED to generate some revenue.  A lot of you have seen my "chronicle" of "The 38 Year-Old Virgin" - A Completely Un-Molested, factory-wired, totally bone-stock original Stereo 70.  If you haven't *please* take a look here: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=60831.0.

This is truly the "pearl" of my Stereo 70 collection.  The photos show a factory-matched quad of Electro-Harmonix EL34EH tubes, but I will replace them with a NOS quad of Mullard (Blackburn) El34's.  The rest of the tubes are: a NOS Mullard (Blackburn)-manufactured GZ34/5AR4 and two NOS RCA black plate 7199's.  These are the EXACT tubes Dynaco would have supplied with a new stereo 70 in 1970.  It makes a BIG difference!

This is a factory-wired Stereo 70 and is in *almost* perfect cosmetic condition.  (There are a couple of pits in the plating that I have also photographed and posted in the "chronicle.")  All parts are original and the amplifier is in excellent working order.

I am making this amplifier available  at *slightly* less than the original price (adjusted for inflation) for a factory-wired Stereo 70.  In 1959, when the Stereo 70 was introduced, it was priced at $129.95 for a factory-wired unit.  According to Tom Halfhill's inflation calculator, that translates into $932.26.  I'll reduce the price to an even $900.00, due to the slight plating imperfections.  Since the tubes are worth over $600.00, you are purchasing this amplifier for a net price of $300.00!  That works out to $41.81 in 1959 Dollars!

Expensive? Sure.  But those tubes make the SOUND simply GORGEOUS!  And this amplifier is almost as cosmetically GORGEOUS.  For more information, (or just to tell me off, if you want to), just e-mail me at: nostubesforyourdynaco@gmail.com.  Go ahead.  After what I've been through during the last few days, it'll be "blessed relief" in comparison!

Seriously, this is a BEAUTIFUL amplifier with BEAUTIFUL tubes.  If I could keep just ONE Stereo 70, THIS would be the one I kept.

Thanks for viewing this ad.  Please be advised that my stock of Stereo 70's is beginning to dwindle down to a precious few.  There won't be that many more coming, and NONE are quite as nice as this one.

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

Just to "sweeten the deal", I've decided to add a "Bonus Item" to this offer.  Actually, it's FOUR "Bonus Items", but let's just call it one item to make things easier.

     And the "Item" is:

A factory-matched quad of Electro-Harmonix EL34EH Output Tubes.  They are brand new and have never been used.

Now, you'll be able to actually hear how much better NOS Mullards are, compared with current-production tubes.  OR, you can run the Electro-Harmonix tubes in this Stereo 70 and use the Mullards in your "High-End" system!

It's a GREAT way to demonstrate the difference to your audiophile friends too.  ("Listening Parties" may never be the same!)  Are NOS Mullards REALLY that much better?  You BET they are!  It's a difference ANYONE can EASILY hear.  There simply is no contest!  Are the EL34EH's THAT bad?  Nope!  They're actually a pretty good tube, but when you put 'em up against NOS Mullards, the Mullards "Spank 'em HARD, and take their lunch money!"

As you probably know, I'm selling sets of the new, factory-matched EL34EH tubes for $60.00 a quad, with free shipping in the United States, so let's just call this a $55.00 bonus!  All this, and the prettiest, factory-wired, perfectly-operating, ORIGINAL Stereo 70 in my collection too?  What a DEAL!

Seriously, this is a BEAUTIFUL amplifier.  Totally original and un-molested.  Run it as-is to hear just how GOOD an original Dynaco Stereo 70 sounds, OR use it as YOUR canvass to build upon.  Either way, you WON'T be disappointed!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

Hey Dyna Fans!

Don't let this one get away!  If you've been searching for that PERFECT Vintage sound, along with a BEAUTIFUL Vintage look, THIS one is the Stereo 70 you've been searching for.  At the risk of being "politically incorrect", This one is like the ideal candidate for a marriage:  "She's BEAUTIFUL, AND she really COOKS too!"

(Sorry!)  I'll go back and assume the "Yes, Dear" position now.  Hey, I was only kidding....

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

My Fellow Americans,

PLEASE remember to salute our Veterans today.  Of course, NOTHING could EVER pay them back for their service and their sacrifices, but try anyway.  You will find NO more honorable people in the WORLD than the service men and women who have given SO much for our Country!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

Dear Dynaco Enthusiasts,

I can understand that some folks may find the original offer too expensive to consider.  (You don't have to tell ME that times are tough!)  But this amplifier NEEDS a new home.  Therefore, I have decided to offer a "Second Option" for those who just can't "swing" the cost of a matched quad of NOS Mullard EL34's.  (You can always buy them later IF they are still available by then.)

Here's the offer:  I will sell this GORGEOUS original Dynaco Stereo 70 with the following tube complement:

          1 NOS Mullard-manufactured GZ34/5AR4 rectifier
2 NOS RCA black plate 7199's, and
          4 NEW factory-matched Electro-Harmonix EL34EH Output Tubes.

The price for the amplifier in this configuration is $600.00!  That's a savings of $300.00 off the original price.  While the Electro-Harmonix tubes aren't as nice as the Mullards, they DO provide VERY nice sound quality at a MUCH lower price.

This will be the ONLY price reduction offered on this amplifier.  Shipping via USPS Priority Mail will be an additional $30.00 in the United States.  Foreign purchasers will have to pay all shipping costs to their destination.

This is a limited time offer and it may be discontinued at any time.  I will also attempt to sell this beauty locally.  If you've been looking for a truly original Stereo 70 for a Vintage System, you'll simply HATE IT if you let this one slip away.  It really IS that pretty - and it SOUNDS great too!

Contact me at nostubesforyourdynaco@gmail.com for more information, to ask questions, or just to discuss any and all matters related to Dynaco products from the "Classic Era."  I hope I can be of service to you.

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

P.S.  To answer a common question, No, I will NOT sell the amplifier without tubes at a lower price!

A question arose regarding this Stereo 70.  A gentleman was concerned that this amplifier might fail rather quickly if placed back into service.  I want to reassure you that I will NOT leave you unprotected from this possibility.  I am guaranteeing all tubes for a period of 90 days from date of purchase.  But, I am ALSO guaranteeing the proper operation of this amplifier for a period of 6 months from date of purchase.  If anything fails during that period, I will repair the amplifier at no charge to the buyer.  I will even pay the shipping fees both ways to return the amplifier for service *if* that should be necessary.  In other words, you can't lose!  Of course, guarantees are void if the unit or the tubes are OBVIOUSLY abused (which is only fair).

I hope this will help reassure you that this amplifier WILL serve you well for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

Hi Bill ~

Your Dynaco looks fabulous... the wiring is impeccable, pure art!!!!

For those who might be thinking about purchasing this masterpiece of audio high art... I am also using a amplifier from the same golden period of audio high art as this Dynaco... the sound cannot be replicated by any "modern" amplifier designer I have ever heard... and I have heard most of the big names (with big prices)... these classic amplifiers, brought to life under the special talent of Bill... are peerless examples of the full potential of audio to reach levels of performance that are simply beguiling.

Good Luck, Bill with selling this audio classic. It will not only allow a lucky someone to own a fabulous piece of audio history... it will also give them a slice of heaven as well.

With Warmest Regards ~ Richard

Hey Bill, you might want to hold onto that very nice Dyna St-70 until you finish the Ultimate 70 project.

As nice as one Ultimate 70 is, two bridged mono (with in Insight Bridge) will give you about 100 watts per channel and outrageous performance with almost any loudspeaker from 85 dB sensitivity on up.

Well, Frank, we're on the way to the "finish line" on the "Ultimate Stereo 70."  I'm a little slower than I'd *like* to be on this because I'm continuing with the "aesthetic touches" as well.  Right now, I'm waiting for a bit warmer weather to finish the paint job on the transformer end bells.  Primer is nice, but the finish coat awaits a temp that's above freezing.  (Pictures will follow shortly).

I am truly humbled by your comments, Richard.  Your kindness and praise are DEEPLY appreciated.  It makes me want to raise the bar even higher on these restoration/rebuilds.  When I first started trying to assemble a "Vintage Dynaco System", I would have given ANYTHING to find an amplifier as aesthetically pretty as this original Stereo 70.  It took purchasing over twenty units before this one showed up.  Then again, if this one had shown up first, I wouldn't have been able to offer as many Stereo 70's to folks here on Audiocircle now.  This one truly is the prettiest original Stereo 70 in my "closet".  The fact that is operates so well is just icing on the cake.

I DO hope someone will take advantage of this beautiful amplifier.  As in classic cars, a unit like this is only original ONCE.  Restorations are all well and good, but original units in *this* condition really demonstrate what all the "fuss" was about back in the day.

"High-End" units are certainly wonderful, but Dynaco brought OUTSTANDING sound quality to "the masses" at an incredibly low price.  Sure, there are better units, but NONE approaches the cost/performance ratio of even the *lowliest* Dynaco products.  The fact that this unit still sounds so good today (38 years later) demonstrates just how much they "got it right" back then.  The Stereo 70 was the BIGGEST-selling amplifier of all time.  No other amplifier even came close.  They looked pretty nice then, but they SOUNDED like an amplifier costing ten times as much.  As this one so ably demonstrates, they still do!

Oh well, back to the "Restoration Bench" to wrap up the current projects!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

We came VERY close to a sale on this amplifier.  But, at the last minute, the W.A.F. prevailed, so it remains available.  They don't come much prettier than THIS one.  They certainly don't show up in all original, factory-wired condition like this one!  Guaranteed to boot!  It sounds great with the Electro-Harmonix EL34EH's, but it sounds UNBELIEVABLE with NOS Mullards.  Either way, this one is a BEAUTY!  Don't let someone else buy the amplifier YOU *really* wanted.  E-mail me at nostubesforyourdynaco@gmail.com for more details.  The cornerstone of your Vintage System awaits!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

In honor of the Thanksgiving Holiday here in the United States, I have decided to offer a price reduction on the two Dynaco items I currently have up for sale.  This will be a limited time offer until 12 Midnight Eastern Standard Time on Sunday night, November 30, 2008.

The original price for this amplifier (equipped with NOS Mullard-manufactured EL34's) was listed at $900.00.  I will reduce that a full $125.00 to $775.00!  (Yes, the Electro-Harmonix EL34EH's will still be included in that price as well!)

The original price for this amplifier (equipped only with the Electro-Harmonix EL34EH tubes, rather than BOTH sets) was listed at $600.00.  I will reduce the price a bit less on this combination, but it will STILL be a significant savings of $75.00!  The sale price is $525.00.  Remember, once the deadline has passed, prices will return back to the original posted amounts.

Have a truly happy and blessed Thanksgiving, Everyone!

Sincerely,

Bill

Just a little over one day to go before prices go back up.  Don't miss this opportunity to get a truly BEAUTIFUL, totally original, factory-wired  Stereo 70 at a GREAT price - LOADED with really choice NOS tubes.  They really don't come much nicer than *this* one.

Don't wait TOO long on THIS one!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

Christmas Greetings and wishes for the HAPPIEST of Holidays!

In the spirit of the Season, I'm dropping the price for the NOS Mullard-equipped Stereo 70 by $100.00.  That's right!  With over $600.00 worth of NOS Mullard and RCA tubes, that means you can buy this GORGEOUS factory-wired, totally original Stereo 70 at a net price of under $200.00!

You'll get a truly beautiful amplifier, plus a NOS Mullard-manufactured GZ34/5AR4, two NOS RCA black plate 7199's and a quad of NOS Mullard-manufactured EL34's!  If you've been "sittin' on the fence" over this one, maybe this will give you that final "nudge!"

On top of that, you get a 6 month guarantee on the amplifier and a 90 day guarantee on the NOS tubes.  I seriously doubt you'll find a better deal anywhere else.  You may find a cheaper amplifier, but it won't be as pretty, won't be as original, or it'll have "issues" you REALLY won't want to deal with.

Merry Christmas to one and all!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

December 16th, 2008 - Update:

The amplifier has been sold.  I am adding this note to a previous post because I see no need to bump this post up to the top of the listings and deprive someone else of a better ad position.  Thanks to everyone who viewed this ad.  Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas
