I've been listening to Stan Getz for a long time, but I hadn't really paid much attention to Kenny Barron until I heard this. Got to get more!
Hey Guys,Thanks for your posts and sharing what you've been listening too.Any Natalie Merchant fans check our her new one? http://www.amazon.com/Leave-Your-Sleep-Natalie-Merchant/dp/B002ZCDR88/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1271853307&sr=8-1I'm going to pick it up soon...VinnieUPDATE:I did buy this double album and have been listening to it for about a week now. Quite different from her other work, but very well done and features a diverse range of songs and some are quite catchy. I'd say NM fans are bound to find a lot to like with here new album (it's been like 6 or 7 years, so its about time ).
Thanks for the link. I listened to the video and loved the song. Interesting to me is that this is on Nonesuch. They did a good job on Laura Viers' Carbon Glacier. Again, thanks, I'm ordering it.
I happen to have a CD called "Night and The City" with Kenny Barron and Charlie Haden that was recorded live at The Iridium in NYC. Recommended.
Wonderful synergy between Stan Getz on tenor sax and Kenny Barron on piano. Five of the songs on this album are Kenny Barron originals. I've been listening to Stan Getz for a long time, but I hadn't really paid much attention to Kenny Barron until I heard this. Got to get more!
Vladimir Horowitz, as quoted on the Steingraeber Piano website (www.steingraeber.de):“The most important thing is to transform the piano from a percussive instrument into a singing instrument .... a singing tone is made up of shadows and colors and contrast ...”This final recording, made when he was 86, shows just how well he succeeded. This has become my favorite Horowitz album; it never fails to sooth and comfort me.
