Sony AVDC700ES and AVDS500ES combo receiver/players

There are already a couple of threads for the older 50 and 70 models, but I didn't see one for the newer ones so, I thought this might be a good time to start one.

Oade Brothers have been showing these on their web site for some time, collecting advance orders I believe. This week, Sony Canada added them to their web site - www.sonystyle.ca and appear to be taking online orders. I was in the downtown Toronto Sony Store last week and they still didn't have them in stock at the store. The Sony web site is still showing the older AVDS50ES - at the same price as the newer AVDs500ES, interestingly enough. You would think they would discount it to flush out the older stock. But then this is Sony, which doesn't always behave logically.

The Sony USA web site has still not been updated.

The Yorkdale Sony Store has both the AVD-S500 and C700. I was there a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately they're hooked up to lousy speakers...nothing decent like the new "B&W 700 series-like" Sony X speakers. You need to call ahead for them to arrange a demo on decent speakers.
