This is a pretty stupid article, considering that almost no one has seen the EOS
5D mk2 yet.
What's driving the "megapixel race" are the end users, not the engineers and to
a lesser extent, the stock photo agencies. As someone who has worked with Canon
a lot over the years and knows some of the guys in the tech department, what they
are usually going for the most is lower image noise (which is supposed to be even
better in the mk. 2 version and the 50D) and better color fidelity.
The new camera is only 300 bucks more, so why would anyone expect "a complete redesign"
The Canon 5D (mk 1) is already more camera than any amateur and most pros are
able to utilize to its fullest extent as it is.
Why don't we wait until we see what the damn thing looks like before we start
commenting? Knowing what Canon has done in the past, it's always been slow,
steady improvements. I see no reason that they will change that in the future.
