This is a pretty stupid article, considering that almost no one has seen the EOS
5D mk2 yet.

What's driving the "megapixel race" are the end users, not the engineers and to
a lesser extent, the stock photo agencies.  As someone who has worked with Canon
a lot over the years and knows some of the guys in the tech department, what they
are usually going for the most is lower image noise (which is supposed to be even
better in the mk. 2 version and the 50D) and better color fidelity.

The new camera is only 300 bucks more, so why would anyone expect "a complete redesign"

The Canon 5D (mk 1) is already more camera than any amateur and most pros are
able to utilize to its fullest extent as it is.

Why don't we wait until we see what the damn thing looks like before we start
commenting?  Knowing what Canon has done in the past, it's always been slow,
steady improvements.  I see no reason that they will change that in the future.

Before we start commenting? Thats a Cannon Engineer. I didnt say a damn thing about it. If a audio engineer said something along those lines we would scream for what we wanted- the whole reason a site like this is popular- the off the shelf stuff doesnt usually work for us well unless you get the big time stuff like someone  BTW how is it a stupid post? Its a Cannon engineer saying these things? Little harsh there Jeff

Even if it is really from the engineers standpoint, I've had to sit in plenty
of meetings with canon, nikon and olympus over the years.  The engineers
grump about everything and the first words out of their mouth is always no.

If the engineers ran Canon, they would never release anything...

I think it's more frustration from living in that world for a number of years....
Sorry for sounding too harsh.

The good news is now will be a good time to buy a lightly used 5D for pennies
on the dollar because all the weekend warriors will want to trade up.

Hint:  The best guys to buy used cameras from are Doctors.  They always
want the latest, shoot about a hundred pics and leave it in the closet to
collect dust!!
