Au24 ICs: what did you replaced them with?
« on: 10 Sep 2008, 09:37 pm »
I dropped Au24 instead of Van den Hul MC Gold for a test: I love it to death, detail, resolution, firm and controlled and deep bass.

However I'm missing a full on organic tone and timber of MC Gold. Everything else sucks, the soundstage is smaller, the bass lacks precision and definition, but midrange tonal purity is amazing.

I'm wondering about a cable that has all the resolution, spark, detail and control of Au24 but more tonal richness.

Any thoughts? aa

I know a gentleman (hope he is reading this post) who replaced his Au24 with Auditorium 23s and found a dramatic improvement. I will try to email him to alert him to this post and perhaps he will chime in with first hand experience.

Best Regards

Verbatim Signatures did just that for me. Alas, the company disappeared before it could even take off.

I was using all AU24 with great results in my system but ended up replacing it with XLO Signature 2. I was truly astonished how much better the XLO was in my system.

I still think the AU24 is a great sounding cable, the XLO just took the prize in terms of clarity, soundstage (Much bigger and focused), and overall musicality.

Cheers,

-Chris

Well... some of the best cables in the world are made by Goldmund, Empirical Design and one other company, which I'm not allowed to mention here, or this post will get deleted :)
