Rega Elicit, we've got it first in the US!
« on: 8 Sep 2008, 03:58 am »
The nice folks at REGA just sent us the Elicit amp to review
and its a honey!

I've got one with a MM phono stage and I think retail is around
3200.

This is another of REGA's upscale components that started with the
Ios phono preamp.

A little over 80wpc and full function preamp to boot, with sub
outs and tape outs!  NICE!

Full review in about three weeks on our website.  If you are a
subscriber you'll get the email.  Otherwise we'll post it here!

Yes it is.

I have a SuperNait here as well.  The SuperNait is an awesome amp, but if you
don't need the DAC or want the ability to upgrade the power supply, the REGA is
a great option.

I would say sound wise, the Naim is just a slight bit more forward in the presentation
and the REGA is just a slight bit on the romantic side for solid state, but not as warm
as say a Sugden A21 SE or my Luxman Class A amp.

Both the Naim and the Rega work really well with my Harbeth Compact 7s, the Stirling
Broadcast LS3/5a's and both have enough juice to drive my Martin Logans to a decent
clip.

Also, the combination of the Elicit, the Ios phono stage, P9 and Apheta cartridge is
pretty sweet!  Works well with the Naim CD5i (italic), so I'm sure its a great match
with either of the two REGA CD players....

Simple, understated and powerful.

Hi there:

Haven't heard about that yet...

As we all know, Rega does things somewhat methodically,
so I wouldn't expect it anytime soon!
