Hi gang,
Any ideas?
How about 3 pairs of Kimber Timbres at ~$100-110 a pair.
Anything cheaper?

The install/rack/gear arrangement will require ICs with a lot of flexibility and small cross-sections.

Home brew is an option.

I am using the Canare LV61S cables as analogue interconnects and find them excellent! They are very pliable and thin and won't break your bank account!

Personally, I like the Monster.

4 foot IC's for like $49 at Best Buy work great

(I think it's the Interlink 400 or 600 they sell). They ahve cheaper, too, but I've bought two pairs of that model with good success.

The rca ends grip well, the construction is robust (take one apart and you'll see for yourself) and labor, which is a large part of any cables final cost is Chinese...as Monster has the clout to order up cables by the tens of thousands and get the right price for them.

I think they're great....I'm largely done diddling around with other brands.

If you have them in a box somewhere, could I buy them for the Jr. Audiophile program? I am putting a loaner system together to go to physics classes. I have speakers, cd source, tube processor, integrated amp, but have only $1.25 patch cords to go with it. If they hear the difference, they can make their own as a class project.

I like the Acoustic Research PR130 cables. These are the high end Acoustic Research cables Sam Tellig promoted in Stereophile a few years back. They can be had on ebay for less than $15 with shipping if you watch. I have quite a few pairs of them as I will bid and unintentionally win them.
I've taken them apart and find them to be as well built as any cable I've owned.

If you want cheaper, look into the Kimber Tonik ($65/meter) or PBJ ($89/meter) cables. I think these may be unshielded so make sure noise won't be an issue.

Want super cheap? Check out the premium line from www.monoprice.com. Under $5 pair.

Something in between. Tributaries or low end Audioquest under $30/pair. HCM audio typically has Audioquest at discounted prices.

I know I have some extras built using Canare LV-77S and Canare RCAP connectors (coax construction, nice build). I've 12' of Belden 8422 and as much cat-5 as you could ever use that you're welcome to. Mag. wire is also a popular inexpensive wire for IC's. Here's a source for excellent inexpensive rca's, the same as used by Silver Fi and other well respected builders... http://www.audio-magus.com/category_s/21.htm

Just out of curiousity, has anyone made interconnects from taking a strip of OFC foil from an inductor, cutting it down to 3-4mm width, slapping on some scotch tape for insulation, and hooked up an rca plug?

I have Monster (3 sets) and Tara Labs (2 sets) locking cables that I love and would use, however, all are too stiff/big for this particular application.

Hmmm... interesting RCAs there Gordy.

I'm planning to build another set or two of cable and will need some RCAs.

I've been using Bullet Plug but the price when up from about $38 for a set of 4 to $56!

But I've been thinking of building a pair of a more economical... in another word, cheaper version of what I built before so I think I might give these a try. But I wonder how will I fit my unusual cable assembly with these.

Anyway, let's see.
