Anyone know if there's a source for knobs that will fit the VMPS pots?

My install makes it a bit cumbersome to slip a flat tip into the pots, I'd prefer to just have a big knob back there, rather than do my contortonist  routine when I want to tweak my LRC.

Anyways, anyone know if there's a knob out there that'll fit?

 I've been doing some adjusting to accommodate a new amp with my RM40s, and thought someone might have come up with something by now, so I thought I'd give this a bump.

Radio Shack sells knobs that will fit the pots.  1/4" shaft pressure fit or set screw kind works find.  Some of the smaller RS knobs will fit inside the counterbore where the shaft sits.

  I'll run by Radio Shack on the way home tonight.  I wasn't sure how easy it would be to locate knobs that were small enough to reach in, given the amount of clearance available.

What new amps did you get?

I think the reason B, doesn't include knobs is that most of them tend to lose the "tactile" sense needed to be able to adjust the pot a "single click".

When you use a small screw driver, you soon see that you can "feel" the windings, and can make small but sure adjustments of a single click.

Most knobs have enough "give" and friction, that cause this to be difficult to do.

I have VMPS'ers ask me this occasionally, and that is the reason.  I know it seems logical that since the idea is to have knobs on the pots, it can inhibit the tuning slightly (depending on the knob).

If you find something that works and you feel doesn't reduce the tactile sense, please let us know.

    Good to hear from you!   I picked up a used Butler TDB 2500 off Audiogon.  It just arrived yesterday afternoon, and with the final Cardinal playoff game last night, I didn't get in much listening time. 

   Hooked up full range to the RM40S, my first impression leads me to think it may be powerful enough to run on its own.

   I had been bi-amping with a VTL-85 on top and the Carver ZR-1600 on the bass.   What I may have been running into is, that with the crossover at 280HZ, the Carver was still pretty rough sounding to my OLD ears.     It seems that Brian may have tested the Carver way back when, and also found it a little rough. The Butler seems to have smoothed thinks out quite a bit. 

   I have hooked up with the GAS guys here in St. Louis, they have been really great for a novice like me.  I really don't understand a lot of what's going on, but luckily that are a patient group.  I'm having a few of them over next weekend, I really wish you were close enough to join us.

I used to have a lot of fun in St. Louis.  Dated several real lookers.  A Playboy Bunny, aa and a Miss St Louis winner.

I think I bought a pair of Bose 901's down there, when everyone thought them the RAGE.   How times have changed.

9846 W. FLorrisant Ave comes up on the memory banks as my work address, but I ran clubs in St Ann, Clayton, and a couple other places.  I think I lived in Belfountaine Neighbors, or some such. 

Memory has faded. After all it was the 70's

Seriuosly, it is good to see a NON New York World Series.
I am soo over the Yankees winning all the time.

That said, I agree with John Casler, one click makes a difference, and you have to be able to feel it.

  Sounds like you were in the North end of town when you lived in St. Louis.  I'm in the South Suburban area.  I also had a pair of Bose 901s, and somehow convinced the wife to let me hang them from the ceiling...  Thought they were really something hooked to my big Marantz receiver and Dual turntable. aa  Unfortunately the closest I ever got to a Playboy Bunny was at the club they had, I believe at a Ramada Inn on South Lindbergh.
 
I went by Radio Shack, but they didn't have any knobs deep enough to stick out past the recess of the  cabinet.  I'll probably just keep using the screwdriver.

Why not try a right angle screw driver (can purchase for $2. at any auto store).  You can slip it behind speakers and maintain the feel of the pots.  I used one to tighten the bottom of my rear brake light on a 95' 911, which did not have the clearance for a full size screw driver.
