I have a cd player I'm happy with, but I purchased a used ns9100 for SACDs and DADs.  I was wondering if MW offers modifications for this player, other than the full-blown $2500 Truth Mods?  Something without an outboard PS that would make a significant improvement, while keeping the costs under say, $1000 for the mods?

Dan might offer you the Sony mod w/o the clock upgrade to save some $$$ but this wouldn't put you in the $1000 range for the mod.

It is a pretty special player with tube output and rectified PS!

I agree. I own the fully modded player. IMO it easily bests the Lector CDP 7T, Cary 303-300, Ayre CX-7e, and even beats the APL Denon 3910. Plus some DAC/Transport combinations and other players I can't recall at the moment.
If added to the $1000., your CDP would bring enough to bridge the difference in the full mod price, you might want to consider it.

Dan will work with your budget and tell you what can be done now, then when you get more cash, you can do more.   This is how I did things.

Each part of the mod chain will give you improvements - clock, some other internal changes (OpAmp), tube rectified PS and of course the new output section.  But from my experience, the complete mod is really what you want to obtain as it will give you a player which outperforms stock players costing 2-3 times as much as you paid for the player and the mods.
