STANDARD TVC vs REF 3
« on: 5 Aug 2008, 08:46 am »
Hi everybody

I'm a French guy living in center of France near Orleans and I'm looking for a PROMITHEUS TVC preamplifier.
I was wondering if anybody can tell me what are the advantage to buy a ref 3 instead of a standard version and if the silver interconnect are also better to use with ?

Lookinr forward to your replies

I am a user of the Apollo, with Reference TVC inside. I can tell you this unit is very very good. Very open and good bottom end. A lot better then a unit (more expensive) I compared it with. It takes quite a while to break-in because of the amount of copper involved.

As for interconnects, I on the moment am using Monster Sigma cables (the older type) and expect to receive the silver interconnects any time. But as you might understand any time really means any time.

The only thing is that my unit is not compatible with my EAR 834P. When connected there is a rattle when the tubes are loaded. Nicholas advices to make the output Caps on the EAR bigger, but he's checking it out.

So on the moment I use my CD-player. Which is not my main source. But I never had better sound. I really wounder though how the turntable turns out.
