Hey!

So, you are in Brooklyn eh? :D

The 28th is on Monday(?)... if it is going to be on Monday the 28th than there is a better chance that I might be able to make it. But this is still many days away so I will have to confirm that again.

Anyway, I don't have a car so is there a subway line nearby? :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

PS

I assumed that you have turntable right since your avatar is a turntale. Cool!

Yep....still a lot of time....you are right. However , better plan ahead then run in circles few days before the ""D" day.   Monday, Tuesday and Wendsday is what we have to work with. Any of these day is open for discussion as I realize it is very inconvenient for many.
I wasn't planning for this micro Rave but since Vinnie offered his generouse time and opportunity to audition Isabella and Sig 30.2 and is making an effort to come in person , we both thought that some of AC members might be interested to hear new Isabella preamp. I am trying to make sure that everything will be ready by then. My place was under renovation for over a year while we lived in another house that is part of this property. Now it is almost finished....all is needed is some trim work , last paint touch ups, Central AC calibration , few fixtures and major clean up.
So it is not that I wouldn't like to have a all out Rave.....it is just not possible and I hope that it is understandable why. On the other hand I will be MOST THEN PLEASED to have a small group of guys over to share this experience with and have a little fun too.

Of coarse I will be more then happy to meet you if you can make it.
I own 3 turntables. Two heavily modify and rebuild ( Lenco and MMF7 ) . The third table was build from scratch and it is of my own (sort of) design. That is the one on the picture without motor (made in Germany) and arm+cart.
At this time , they are in the storage and I doubt if I am going to have time to play around to get them ready by the time of the Rave. Phono is Consonance Ref 40.

So try to make it..........I am guessing that "G" train is your best bet. It will get you within 3-4 blocks from my place.

Cheers

Mariusz

PS
I am not 100% sure if I can make it to July Rave but if I go ....I can give you a lift. :thumb:

Hi Mariusz,

We all appreciate your hospitality given your situation... thanks again!  I hope some of you guys can leave work early or take off from work the day we decide on.

If the mini-rave doesn't work out, I'll try my best to make it to the August Rave - The first and second weekend of August are no good for me, but I should be able to make it to the August Rave any other weekend in August.  I've really been MIA at the NY Audio Raves and I am going to make a much bigger effort to come as CT is not too far away.

Thanks again, Mariusz for trying to work within my schedule, your schedule, and the schedule of others who are interested.  This is going to be FUN!

I would love to attend as well. Quite flexible, can take the day off if needed.

Jon (Jersey City)

iMac -> Benchmark DAC1 -> Pass Aleph 30 -> Quad 2805. Obviously interested both Isabella and Sig 30/70 when funds allow.

Sure, if you can make it great.

It will take place on Tuesday 29th unless Vinnie's plans won't permit.

********************************************************************

Vinnie ,
do you have your new speakers cables ready with terminations??

I am asking because my Quatros do not accept bananas. Just small spades.
Amps accept both. If it is possible and not to much of a problem, can you bring one pair with bananas on the amp side - spades on the spks end and another pair terminated with spades on both ends to run Quatros in bi-wire setup. Also I do not have any balanced connections between my components.
I know that it is probably to early to ask for some constraction details and such but could you give as just a little hints what to expect.

Right now I am using Granite power cord, Morrow power cords, KImber Kable PC, Morrow interconnects all around and Vampire silver speaker wires.
I just received another speaker wires - Synergistic Reference. Will try them and see if they are any better then my Vampires.
PC listed are for those interested and are used with my amps, Quatros, CDP, DAC and power conditioner.

The gear I am planing to use for that audition (except Vinnie's gear) is:

Speakers - Vandersteen Quatro
Amp 1 - my own RWA Sig.30 Omega version (no upgrades)
Amp 2 - Consonance Cyber 800 mono blocks 78wpc (modified by B.Backert)
Preamp - Dodd battery powered pre - similar to Isabella
CDP - Consonance Droplet top loading tube cdp.
DAC - Paradisea tube dac
Conditioner - Quantum RT 800
Monster Cable voltage stabilizer
Quite lines filters
PS Ultimate 20A power outlet. as well as standart PS outlets.

Room will be temporally treated with acoustic treatments - combination of diffusers and absorbers. Front and back wall is cover with cork tiles to reduce reflections. Room is not to bad acoustically.
System is voiced for speed, detail, articulation, dynamics and slightly smoother not in your face top frequencies and spacious , liquid middle range.

Thanks Vinnie and all involved in this event.

Hey Buddy,

Yes, Tuesday July 29th.
Time.......well I have not touch bases with Vinnie on this but I would guess afternoon or something like that.
Lanco is the ongoing project......that I am going back and forward in search for the best solutions. Lenco L75 was the NOS when I bought it. However it still needed some lubrication and small tweak to run its best. Some dampening was apply as well as cleaning and speed adj. IMO it is one of the best inexpensive idlers of all time. Its biggest drawback was its spring suspension and cheap, unstable and lightweight plinth. Project is far from finish .......still working on the new plinth and stand/base design.
Adequate mass is essential and something I want to achieve by combining various materials in sandwitch configuration. Materials I have in mind are HD MDF, Baltic high grade Ply and Silestone base. I am planing to use either Origin Live or MG 1 Air Bearing Liner arm ....or both. Carts ....well , with Origin - Ortofon MC 2000 MK II or MG 1 with modified Denon 103 or R.

I have limited time due to renovation and work and I am not sure if I will be able to assemble one of these tables on time.
MMF 7 modified is almost ready and just needs arm and cart setup and adjustment but I am not sure if I will have time to play around with that.
(could use some help if you have time to play around with that and then we could spin some vinyl. I have Moach up 4and old Denon 103R handy for that table).

I guess you won't miss anything by taking a whole day off. Half a day is all you need Buddy. I am not sure how long Vinnie can stick around but the music will be playing until last man standing. So no worries , as long as the food and drinks are on the table .....we should be OK. ;)

Cheers

All,

If Mariusz is ok with it, I will be there in the afternoon and I will gladly stay as long as you guys want (or until Mariusz kicks me out! ).
I would like to get there a little earlier so I can set up before others show up.  I also need to set up my slide-show presentation... just kidding!  :green:

Ideally, I would leave after rush-hour because there is no point in sitting traffic for a few hours if we can be having fun and listening to music instead.  :singing:

So I'll leave the exact start time on Tuesday the 29th to Mariusz, but any time after 1pm should be fine...

Thanks again!

Hey!

I see... so none of your turntable are spinning right now. I do have some basic turntable set up tools. If you need help setting up the MMF7 with a cart I could help you with that. It should take couple minutes... well at least with my turntable of which based on Rega Planar 2 parts and RB250 arm it didn't take too long to get it running. :D I think the arm you have is a bit trickier to set up than the RB250. But I'm sure you and I could do it. :D

Anyway, quite impressive list of components you've got there not to mention that Vinnie is bringing more of his stuff too. :D

Well, hope I could make it to this one since it is only a subway ride away. :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

If you can come on 29th we could set it up then........we'll see.  The rest is in the rented storage for the time of renovation. MMF is in the basement .....I think.  :o
Will think of something.
I sure miss my records.............Now since you mentioned it......I can not stop thinking about it.

Hi Mariusz,

If it works for you, I am planning on arrive on Tuesday (the 29th) at around 2pm.  I have one more stop in NYC in the morning, but should be able to make it over around 2pm and can stay for as long as everyone would like.

We have the RWA cables!  We have the Isabella with dac and headphone amp, and we have the 30.2 integrated and Macbook... all ready to go and looking forward to it!  :bounce:

Do we have a full house?

All... for those who cannot make it to this, I am going to try my best to make it to the August NYAR meeting at Jim's beautiful home/location in Stamford, CT...

Cheers!

Hi Vinnie

Sorry for such a late reply. I have been really busy lately. :hyper:
I am up-state NY right now , stock in the mountains.
Cells do not work around here.  :bawl:
Luckily there is internet connection. I will be back on Sunday.

I am hoping to get the central AC running by Tuesday. My buddy/installer is on vacation and will be back Monday.
I pray to get it done on time or else.

I also hope to get my preamp back from check-up on Monday. (charger issues. No big deal)

John from Audio Connections is also busy and I am not 100% sure if he will be able to calibrate the Quatros by Tuesday.

Other then that, we are on.
2pm is  perfect.
I will send  my address to all who can and are interested to come to the Rave.

Please PM me or post your interest here and I will forward you all the necessary information. ( Vinnie, I have your email and will send you all info later tonight or tomorrow)

Bring your music as well.......should be fun.

Ones again thanks and I will see you all on Tuesday afternoon.

Regards
Mariusz :thumb:
