When I was a smart aleck kid I asked Dad if he'd reached his peak when he turned 40. He said no, that mentally he was still sharp, still growing and that as a farmer he was still in good shape physically.

When he turned 50 I asked him again. He replyed that mentally he was holding his own and still learning, but perhaps he had peaked physically.

When he turned 60 I asked again. He told me that he'd lied at 50.

I made the big turn myself a couple of years ago, and its all downhill for me (and picking up speed).

Ha, ha, life is over as you know it. Wait, that's what happened when I got married. Uh, and again when I had kids. Then things changed again at 40, and not for the better.

Damn, maybe 50 isn't such a big change after all. I guess I'll know next year (I'm 49).

Anyway, I hope someone is throwing you a surprise party. Congrats on making the half century mark.
