Is there anything new on this?
I thought that the Lima site and sponsor won't be doing it for spring 2004.
Is there enough interest to stage an event elsewhere in the Midwest like the Chicago area or Milwaukee? Downtown Chicago would probably be too expensive, but I would think there are plenty of convention locations nearby. Chicago would be an ideal location because the city has tons to offer to tourists, so folks could take in lots more in addition to a great audio get-together. It would attract not only more audiophiles, but their significant others as well.
I'd like to find out how many mfgr's and dealers from the circle would be interested in attending.
I'd like to find out how many AC members would be interested.
Maybe a poll to find out????
I'd like it to be more open-ended in terms of what the event would encompass. Ideally, a site that offered lots of acoustically friendly listening rooms with setups from both commercial and hobbiests on display.
Obviously, a sponsor would need commitments from enough exhibitors to commit to a convention/hotel site and book it for the event. Anyone have experience setting something like this up? Are deposits usually asked for first? Are there insurance/liability issues? From a cost standpoint, I believe the cost of booking the rooms and/or convention center would be the mininimal amount that is required (if the sponsor(s) were looking at this as a non-profit event).
What kinds of things do you think would make for a great convention? What kinds of things would make for a bad convention?
