That's easy. Buy a set of JM's before Duke wises up and charges the $25k a pair they are worth. LeeQuote from: Canyoneagle on 8 Jun 2008, 02:21 amHmmmmmm, build up a bike or buy a set of JM's

Hey Guys, I lived in Happy Valley for many years, and still have close ties to the area. We used to have an audiophile club (Timpanogos Audio Society) that met (mostly) at my retail store in Provo and used to have around 20 people participating, so there is a pretty good group of audiophiles just in Utah Valley.Plus, you live in a an area that has a ridiculous number of high end companies, in light of the sparse population of the state. I'm just listing these off the top of my head, I'm sure I'll miss some as there are bound to be new ones since I left 6 years ago:SonicweldWilson AudioKimberRed Dragon AudioZu AudioWasatch Cable WorksSound LabElectron LuvEmerald PhysicsAlternate AudioChateau Research/UnitekTalon (if Rives hasn't moved them)Kevin Brooks AudioRolls Corp. (makes the Bellari head amp)Escalante AudioAnd, of course, Duke from Audiokinesis. Not in Utah, per se, but close.Apologies to those who I have missed. But, just those companies listed above, giving presentations and tours and such, should keep you all busy! Peace, Lee
LeeWhat's the sound like at Kevin's Piano performance studio in Orem? (got the wife's killer grand there a year ago) He's the smaller private store just 1/2mi south of the big franchise store on the west side of the street running N-S. Kevin's on the east side....think it's State St but not sure. I can find the invoice if necessary. Kevin's studio is just huge; he said the guy who designed it was an acoustics nut & it looks like it. Not many CA piano stores have recording studios, quite often found in UT.
Ok, count me as a resident/inmate of SLC. Outdoor activities can't be beat! Best skiing and mountain biking and some damn good golfing.I guess the whole Mormon thing scares people off - good for us, mormon or not!
I've always been curious to hear how the Zu druids would compare to my MaxHemps. Damn. These guys are an hour away!I can EASILY see a quick trip to their shop, or perhaps, they'd permit an in-home demo.I'd love to hear the definition and presence as well, but my long-term needs (off-grid) make anything other than super-efficient loudspeakers difficult to envision.Okay, guys. Let's organize some group sessions!!!!!
I didn't know he had a piano studio. Interesting. I saw him at a CES a couple of years ago, but I haven't even visited his new house (he used to live two houses down) and listened to his crazy horn system:http://www.kbrooksaudio.netThis summer when we visit, I'll have to call him and take a listen. Kevin doesn't have the word 'skimp' in his vocabulary and does everything absolutely first class, so I expect it's pretty stunning. The nicest listening room in Utah, and one of the nicest I have EVER been in is at Dave and Sheryl Lee Wilson's house. An absolutely stunning room, sound wise and visually. Plus, they are two of the most gracious people I have the pleasure of knowing.LeeQuote from: ro7939 on 8 Jun 2008, 02:42 amLeeWhat's the sound like at Kevin's Piano performance studio in Orem? Met Adam & Sean at CES. Definitely not your average CES exhibitors; ditto the wares, very nice. Pretty much almost impossible to make/find a new niche, exactly what they did. It's interesting to be young & not yet have learned "you can't do THAT!".....
