Any opinions on whether a 240EX is enough to drive Magepan MMG'S?

More than enough power.

Probably plenty of watts. My concern would be the current drive with the 4 Ohm load of the MMGs.In one system, I run an Omegastar 170 (granted, the Dyna heat sinks are smaller than those in the 240 EX) and it gets pretty hot if I use 4 Ohm speakers. I'm not sure what the MMG's impedence curve dips to. Why don't you ask Frank? Don't know if he would steer you to the 260 EX, or not, but you will get an honest answer and his best advice.

Tally-
Should have added that the 260 has twice as many MosFets and twice the heat sinking as the 240. Thus the 2 Ohm vs 4 Ohm min.

Tally,

My 240EX is working fine with my MMGs.  In fact Frank is building me another one so I can bridge each of them mono in his new all differential set up.  I specifically asked him about this and he's not worried, unless I try to drive them to rock concert levels.  But I rarely turn my T8 up beyond 12 o'clock.

Tally, Tom's advice is good; call Frank. My speakers dip to almost 2 ohms, and nominally are 4 ohms. Frank and I had a couple of conversations about what would work for me. I am happy about the outcome for my case. If you talk with him about the 240EX and he says it will drive the MMGs you will be able to take that to the bank. Whether you like the resultant sound will be up to you, not the amp! Wink2

Ah, I see plaf26 chimed in while I was typing!. Still, if you are uncertain in any way call the man!

Plaf26's input seems pretty sound, as he has that same amp and speakers. Listening habits could play a part, but it's hard to argue against success!
