These very serious, biamped two way monitors are ideal for a simple, high res system - add a preamp or cd player with variable output and prepare to be amazed. I used them for the rear channels of my surround sound - then you have no need for any amplification other than LRC and no long speaker cables. They are robust and dynamic so your rear channels can be configured as "large". See the Quad website for further detail. I am only selling these because I am dismantling my home theater. They are in very good condition - one speaker has a minute crease (1mm) on an edge - more felt than seen- overall they look great.
