I am sure this question has been asked here before, so forgive me for asking it again. The Ultra DAC's supposed to have the "true" 16 bit parallel processing digital-to-analog converter circuitry, then what makes other DACs are "not true" 16 bit.

I've lived with my AVA Ultra DAC for about two days, but unfortunately, I only be able to really listen to it for an hour or so. I have not compared it with my own Cambridge CD player yet. First impression is after the 45 minutes warm-up time, the Ultra DAC has a huge sound stage, very three dimensional, positions of various instrument is more accurate, more bass extension. Listening to the "Neil Young live at Massey Hall" is not like sitting in the front row seat at all, it's more like sitting right next to Neil.

It's a great DAC.

What CA player do you currently have. If it's the 840C I would love to hear your feedback after some more listening sessions.

I have a Cambridge 340c, not the v2, it has the earlier Wolfson audio chips. It sounds very good, but I need to do a side by side comparison with the Ultra DAC. I am currently using the AMC 8B CD player's digital output with the Ultra DAC, the result is very good.

They say CD transports don't matter, so I won't connect the Ultra to my Cambridge's digital output.
