It (the 10-25) is a 78 rpm table only, no radio in this cabinet. It was the first amplified and motorized Victrola, from what I was told.

I'd wondered if the amp was Western Electric, but found that it was made by RCA for Victor, in a book a number of years back.

It's a nice piece of furniture. It had very little use and is in museum like condition. It will work again soon!

Hey!

Well, it had been a while on this.

Found an old BBC show/documentary about gramophone and history of recording on youtube :D Mostly history of Brit's recording since the beginning. There are lots of old HMV (His Master's Voice) machines and even a cute dog... the Nipper on the show.

Most of the show seems to dedicated to the early days of recording. Lots of photos of old "acoustical recording process" on 78 RPM disc and early artists. So, it is fit for this thread :D

A great show... leave it to the BBC to make a nice show/documentary like this one. The show is from 1988. Back when the CD was still pretty young. Who knew that 24 years later vinyl still alive and doing pretty well.

BTW.... my Victor "Type E" turns 110 years old this year! It is a beautiful machine and still reproduce music from those old discs. I still get a blast every time I spin old disc like 1908 Enrico Caruso "Rigoletto's La Donna E Mobile" :D

Take care,
