Creek 4330 Redux
« on: 9 Apr 2008, 07:35 am »
Just today I pulled out my Creek 4330 amp that I had packed away several years ago.

I'm setting up a simple audio rig for my mother's DVD playback setup, so I thought "this is just the ticket for the audio." I plugged the Creek into a pair of modded Optimus LX-4 pro speakers though a short run of homebrew Walmart White Lightning Moonshine speaker cable.

Boy, was I right to have bought this amp. The sound is so natural, unhyped, unfussy, and just plain musical, that I could be happy using this as an everyday setup.

Somehow the Creek setup is more relaxing than my reference rig (which is very musical, but more colorful than music normally is in real life). Listening to the Creek is sort of like passing musicians playing out in public - the sound is very natural and doesn't call attention to itself for its particular qualities. Rather, it the presents music like it's part of the natural aural fabric of the world, not in some hyped up, hyper detailed, or overly euphonic way. It's really honest and listenable.

Anyway, I hope my mother enjoys what I'm doing for her.

Best,
KT

I just recomended that integrated to someone who listens to acoustic jazz and folk music. I sounds like that will be the perfect amp for him..... 8)
