What planet did you dig that up from?

The link is in my earlier post.

Like I said, I haven't heard the Emeralds so I can't comment on the sound.  I love open baffle speakers and I also believe in the benefits of DSP, so I'm quite eager to give them a listen.  But apart from the comments on the sound, he does make a good point about the midrange.  Could the CS2 benefit by turning into a 3-way?

According to Clayton (the designer) the answer is NO.

In fact, Clayton is close to releasing a new, higher performing model and it is also a two way speaker.  Originally, he was going to make it a three-way design, but he found that he was able to achieve better results as a two-way.

I am sure he will post on the new design and speaker when it is fully ready.

Again, I want to stress that I am not hearing issues with the midrange.

"and the mids were murky. Combining a big 15" driver with a little small-format horn tweeter is not going to be easy to do, even with 24 dB/octave crossovers - both drivers are working at the absolute edge of the working range, and it sounded it."

The above statement is a natural supposition if you just look at the spec sheet.  So naturally, I was listening for that specifically when I went over to GregC's house to listen to the CS-2's for the first time recently.

I ordered a pair 5 days later.  I have no idea what that guy was hearing.  The mids were extremely smooth and the dynamics nothing but impressive.
