I just moved into a new house and want to give my system some good juice. I only need one outlet so it should not be too bad. I do have a few questions though.
1) When people say "dedicated line" do they mean to the street or just a dedicated breaker?
2) What are my optitions for filtering that line? Isolation transformer? What size is normally used for one system? Do people mount these in the basement?
Thanks
Kris
Hi Kris,
If you're looking for useful advice, you really should tell us whereabouts in the world you are located because a) electrical codes and b) mains voltages are different in different places.
I think you are kidding yourself if you really do mean "
I only need one outlet". What about:
* sources ... tuner, CDP, maybe vinyl as well?
* preamp?
* power amp?
... at the very least!

You need one outlet for each device.
Preferably, these should not be switched outlets.
Preferably, the spur feeding them should be 30amps (a "cooker circuit" size in Oz ... although, as someone has posted, you might be limited to the wires you already have.
Even better, you have one spur for each device (ie. a "dedicated line").
It's harder to filter the whole line ... easier to interpose an isolation tranny between the spur and each device.
If you want to get "heavy" about ideal mains power, go search Pink Fish Media for posts by Roy K. Riches.
