Some artists just have a production that is superb. And once you get that first cd - you just NEED to check out allthat this dude/dudette have made, and you need to get it all!I usually find what album of an artist is the best, then I just buy that one.But some times, you also need the lot that they have made. So, Elvis? The Beatles? The stones? What? No... For me it is Knut Reiersrud, one of the best blues masters in Norway if you ask me!!! What CD should one start with? I'd start with SUB. The 1999 release.Oh, the quality of this record is immense!!! Imperial
Start with "Into the Labyrinth." It's a longtime audiophile favorite. As to the question, XTC is a group I've collected.
Patricia Barber-This one is interesting to me because I don't really care for her voice on many of her songs, but her music and the musicians are simply brilliant. I saw her live once in Ann Arbor MI, and it was one of the greatest listening pleasures I've had, absolutly fantastic. http://www.patriciabarber.com/Mark

They do have one early album I don't much care for but most of their stuff is stellar. Skylarking, oddly enough, is an album that I didn't care for right away. But I ripped it to my PC and it grew on me over time. Now I love it and can't imagine why I wasn't blown away immediately by it.
