How are you dealing with Phase inversion on moddified SB2/3?

Just curious...

I tried Inguz phase inverter filter... That long process of getting it to work just got me to discover that my CPU is not having it. My laptop just does not pack the punch to do it.

Do any of you select old firmware, but run the new SqueezeCenter?

The big reason is I now have a secondary source (turntable) so I am not sure what to do, other than get some banana ends for my speaker wire!

If you're running more than one source, then swapping speaker cabling would be a hassle.

Get the firmware selector tool:
http://mike.galusha.googlepages.com/squeezeboxfirmwareselector
run firmware v.15:
http://svn.slimdevices.com/*checkout*/trunk/server/Firmware/squeezebox2_15.bin?rev=3738

Polarity remains absolute from the mod'd SB2/3 without having to mess with your speaker cables.

I just did that and it worked great! I have to make a new topic about the difference between current firmware and new...

I am not aware of a phase inverter filter in the Inguz software.  Could you perhaps mean polarity inverter filter?  If Inguz can perform phase invertion, I would like to know more.  It would be quite usefull.

Yes it can, search their forum, they have a filter that does that and nothing more.

You will need a powerful CPU for it to work though.

I did, but could not find it.  I'll look again.

On a slightly different note...does it even matter whether or not phase is inverted when one uses dipole speakers.  My speakers have a forward driver and a rear driver, which are out of phase.  So, is this even a concern for me?

Well you can find out by swapping the speaker cables real fast as to what kind of difference it makes.

I got a hunch it would be in your favor to be in phase.

I will try to find the filter for you. The real question is did you get the plug-in installed? It takes a beta version only available on the forum.

Here is the filter (scroll down a little)

Thanks, DoS.  I didn't realize the filter is an add-on to the beta plug-in.  Everything is sounding pretty good right now and I'm not sure I want to mess with that quite yet.  But, I do appreciate your assistance.

On the issue of dipole speakers, I think I'll pose this question over at Omega and see what Louis says.  You might be right about your hunch.
