This is only my second time through the CD. Haven't really sat down and listened. I'm on my second bottle of Leines Big Butt, slicing and dicing in the kitchen, but I'm definitely enjoying this music.

I enjoy this one quite a bit. On MTVHD they had the CMT's "Crossroads" series with Plant and Krauss and it was very good. They did also did "Black Dog" and "When The Levee Breaks". Union Station is a very good band!

Yep, I really enjoy the pairing of Krauss & Plant as well. I thought that the musicians and sound guys did a very good job of recreating the recordings sound on the "Crossroads" show. One of the best "Crossroads"ever. This seems to be a polarizing recording. When the subject of Raising Sand came up on Audiogon, there were a lot of dissenters vociferously declaiming their dislike for the music.

I love this CD, and I can't stand Robert Plant typically (no Led Zep in my collection).  Luckily, there are no vocal histrionics by Robert in this CD.

Yeah, I've noticed that over on AA on the very rare occasions that I've dipped into their music discussions. I suspect the fierce reactions are typically from 'Plant' fans who still pine for the Zep days, and consider a quiter record something of a sign of emasculation or at least a bit of a sell-out.  I can't imagine anyone who simply finds it a bit boring mustering up the energy to object so strongly.

I personally listen to far more Alison these days than Robert, and perhaps not surprisingly I quite like this disc. IMHO the two Alison solo songs (Sister Rosetta and Trampled Rose) may well be the best things she's done.

Being a Krause fan, an even bigger T-Bone Burnett fan (since the Alpha Band days), and a burned-out Zep fan, I do like this album. The Plant/Krause combo came off better than I expected. 

Great choice from a marketing standpoint, appealing to both alt-country and classic rock fans.  Sounds to me like Krause was on cruise control most of the time, having only to harmonize along with Plant's limited vocal range.  I wouldn't call it a waste of her talent, but she's certainly capable of much more.

Great music and vocals - but the sonics on the first 4 songs (that's all I've gotten through so far) are kind of wierd.  Drums sound like they were recorded in a garbage can and the bass is boomy and indistinct.  A dark and muddled type of feel.

On the downside , the Plant/Krauss tour may be the end of Led Zeppelin .
