and the sound quality is decent.

Only decent? Could you elaborate a little more?

If I remember the pre-release gossip on the TP, they solved this problem by putting jumpers inside the case which can be set -6 or -12dB to adjust the player to work directly with amps without fear of speaker damage. Maybe Modwright removes these as part of the output stage upgrade, but they might still be there. Maybe check the stock TP online owner's manual.

EDIT:http://www.slimdevices.com/documentation/Transporter-Owners-Guide.pdf
See page 24. It allows -10, 20, 30dB, and 0, of course. You may not need an attenuator if these are still in place.

Those are only for the non-balanced output, I run balanced. And yes, Dan disables it as part of his modifications.

You seem more freaked out than I do. I have already said I am going to try it tomorrow when it arrives and go from there. Either I will need attenuators or I wont. Not much else I can do...

I am currently running my MWTP straight into my McCormack DNA-500.  I'm trying some HT P2A XLR interconnects (active, battery powered fiber-optic) and my two pre's are out of the picture (LS 36.5 being tweaked by Dan; Bent TAP is passive and doesn't drive the P2A's).  The sound is very good, even though the volume control doesn't go much above -30db.

Thanks for the info Ted. Would the tweaking on your 36.5 perhaps be a new power supply?
