9 or 10

Given a sensitive speaker that easy to drive, what is the benefit of the 9 over the 10; if there is one. 35 watts is plenty for my speakers, and I wonder if it might even be the case that the 10MKIIs are preferable. Any comments or thoughts.

I always favor the lower power amp. The RM-10 is a great value being hand-wired and a very good application of the 6BQ5 tube.

Roger has consistently advocated lower powered amplifiers and is absolutely right. I wonder how many other designers would recommend their lower cost amplifier over their "reference" or "statement" product that looks like a refrigerator and draws enough power to light up a city block.
As for the RM10, I have mine hooked up to 84 dB Vandersteen 2Ce Signature speakers. I have no problem getting high volumes in an 18x10x9 room in spite of "light loading" the amplifier and using a passive line stage.

I have a Placette passive line stage. It is a great match with the RM10.
