Hi everyone, sorry for the OT....

I'm graduating with a BS in ME this May, and need a job. I'm 33, and owned a Welding and Auto shop for several years before getting my ME degree. My education has focused on renewable energy and engineering management, but I'd be flexible as long as I'm not working for a defense contractor. Please let me know if you're aware of any openings.

Thanks,
Dave

Are you registered with the Placement office at your schooL?  This is usually free for new grads?  Do  you have a particular part of the country where you want to work?  If so, try using the nearest university to that area.  Good luck.

You might also contact the National Biodiesel Board or go to the list of BQ9000 biodiesel suppliers.  Any of the companies listed there will likely have openings for mechanical engineers.

Hmm. I sense a mountain biker....

I work with a public utility and I highly suggest that option.
Are you willing to rellocate?
Regards, Bill

Berndt, I am checking into Xcel energy, the local power co. Relocation is possible, I'd have to look at it on a case by case basis.

AB, guilty as charged  :green:

No, Dave really doesn't want to relocate :D.  And we've got mountains!

In addition to Xcel you might check with IREA. The have a systems planning engineer position listed on their web site. http://tinyurl.com/2ptl9y

Good luck with the new career!

Hi Dave,

I'm not sure if we are looking for EIT's in the Denver area but it's well worth contacting our HR department. Since your focus in school is exactly what we provide to the market, I would think Kathleen in HR would look seriously at your resume. Tell her I sent you, just don't tell her it was from an audio forum (you know, the corporate computer police and all). If you don't mind relocating to one of our other 30+ offices, your chances might be even better.

Have a look at our corporate website. You'll like what you see. We are the largest privately held energy services company in the States (if not the world).

Ameresco (American Energy Services Corp.)

Good Luck  :thumb:

Mike and Scott, thanks!!!  :thumb:

It looks like they are both good options, Ameresco especially. I will certainly drop your name when I submit my resume...  :green:

Got a job with Vestas, a Danish wind turbine manufacturer. I'll be making 2 and 3 MW wind turbine nacelles in a new plant in Brighton. My job will be focused on engineering data management. It'll be my first "real" job  :o

Very good to hear. Congrats!

Where's Brighton? Colorado? Massachusetts? England? Where are you now? What sort of a move does this represent?

Congrats, Dave!

Glad you'll still be in the area.

Suburb north of Denver, right next to Westminster. :) Assuming of course he is still talking about CO.

Just north of Denver... about 25 miles from where I currently live. I might move closer, I'll have to see how bad the commute is.

Jim, thanks! Let me know when a good time is to check out the new system! Anytime but this eve. works for me. I could even bring the XRS over for a duel.... Hornshoppe vs Omega?  aa

ah, Mike beat me to it!

That Brighton - near Greeley. I remember the area for its feed lots and one of the last Ben Franklin stores in the country. Likely that store is long gone.
I'm in Colorado myself - sort of - ever heard of Fruita? If you have an interest in mountain biking, you've probably been here. Fruita is said to be the U.S. capitol for that sport.

It sure isn't for audio. I probably own about half the high end stuff in this valley of 100,000 people.

Are you currently in Boulder, Dave? I used to live in Wallstreet up in 4 mile Canyon. It too was a mountain biking destination.

Good Luck with the new job. It sounds just like what you were asking about.

I'm in SchLongmont right now... can't afford rent in Boulder, although I lived there the last few years while I was going to school. I also lived up in Nederland for 6 years or so. I have been to Fruita for mt. biking several times. I love the Loma trails and Lunch Loops in GJ. I need a lighter bike to fully enjoy 18 rd, although they're still fun on my heavy fr bike. Camping up there is beautiful, though sometimes a little busy.

If you're into mt.biking I'll send you a pm next time I'm out there.

Dave - I just discovered your reply to my post and I'm about a month late in replying. Sorry.

I'm not a mountain biker but I'll buy you lunch and show you my sound system. Get in touch when you're coming out this way. It's getting cold about now so I imagine we are talking about next Spring.

My son is friends with Jordan Rarick whose parents own Over The Edge Sports so I can probably find you some experienced locals to ride with if you like. Happy Thanksgiving.
