Digilog? RM2 SDE

While I don't know if this is the first time this term has ever been used, it is the first time I have heard of it.

My only concern relating to the term is what it means in a new technology or maybe better described as a "complexed" technology Brian has decided to use with our new OutBoard Crossovers.

DIGILOG; to have the combined qualities of both Digital and Analog

In our development on the crossover front, Brian has looked the technologies "up and down" and how they have, could, and can serve our purposes in the VMPS lineup.

What "strengths" and what "weaknesses" do each bring to the table and how to deal with these elements.

One of the first obstacles was the fact that in a 3 way system, going digital meant looking at "tri-amping" each speaker with 6 total channels of amplification :o

Not a deal breaker and in the ultimate system probably a great thing, but for most, not as interesting and feasible as say simply adding another stereo amp and "bi-amping".

Well that is what our form of "DIGILOG" is.  It is linking via analog electronics the Tweeter/MR drivers, and using the speaker effectively as a two-way system via the digital XO.

Enter the RM2 Special DigiLog Edition

This speaker will be both analog AND digital in one package:

1. Full onboard stock analog first-order crossover, single amp or bi-amp operation, with Erse Pulse polypropylene caps and Super Q coils, Analysis Plus bass wire, FST tweeter and BH5/SR71 cabinet damping.

2. Onboard direct inputs for digitally corrected bi-amp operation (DIGILOG configuration with analog treble filter so that mid and treble work as one driver)

3) stock DCX2496 digital crossover with four reprogrammed crossover/correction curves including vertical room mode cancellation for 8', 9'. and 10' ceilings included in the price.

4) Light oak or gloss black over oak finishes.

5) No CDWG but Megawoofer 12" standard.

PRICE = $2599pr.  plus shipping

We can even offer a 2x230W rms PRO amp for powering those MegaWoofers  $299 extra.

This will be the world's only (that we know of) speaker capable of analog of digital operation merely by moving the speaker wires from one set of binding posts to another.

Early B.

I do hope Mr. BC makes the electronic crossover unit/programing data available separately for old customers, I was planning on moving my RM1 crossovers outboard and experimenting with electronic bi-amp and/or tri-amp. Say it is so...?  aa

That is clearly our intention, but it may require "surgery" and or re-wiring a bit.

Most certainly, in my case I will be installing three individual pairs of speaker jacks on the rear after housing the passive crossovers outboard. I have to email Mr. BC as to whether its feasible to send in my crossovers for parts upgrades.
I already have on hand a couple of pro electronic crossovers(24dB) but it would be much nicer to have the exact same slopes as per the original design.
I did have the old Q404 2-way bookshelf running totally active, and thought the sound was, if not superior, at least more dynamic and cleaner vs. via the passive crossover.
No shortage of amps on my end.  8)
