James,

will the CES 2011 in Las Vegas be the venue where the SP-3 upgrade policy will be officially announced?

Just curious...

Dear Bryston,

I am considering a Bryston SP3 late this year.  A couple of quick questions:

1) Is there a firm release date?
2) What are the outside dimensions of the until?  My rack is only 17.5" in depth so I am hoping that the until is not too deep.

Cheers,

John

Hi John - no firm release date but I am hoping the first part of this year.  I will check when I get back from the show but it is 4 rack spaces high and 17 or 19 inches wide.  I think depth is 13 inches.

James, what happened to the...

Hi Luigi - hope late this year very early next we will be in production.

Does "hoping the first part of the year" mean hoping for June, but realistically it might get christmas 2011?

Are there reasons you can talk about? Is your production capacity completely exhausted delivering all the BDP-1s that are being ordered or have new issues arisen with the SP-3 or is the procurement of the digital board again the limiting factor?

Cheers!

Markus

P.S. I "had" to buy a new 3D JVC projector because the SP-3 doesn't seem to be anywhere near... :(

Hi,

The main problem is that the powers that be are changing the requirements for approvals as we go plus the complexity of the product overall.

i do not want to release a product without complete testing.

Personally, the speed that the HT formats are changing is going to be bad for business. In 5yrs alone we went from anolog(rca) to DVI to HDMI 1.1 &1.2 to HDMI 1.3 and now 1.4.....in 5yrs.
If one was to spend the full dollars for every upgrade, well it is crazy.
So James....take your time and get it right,so all Brystanacs will be happy for years(not a year) to come.I mean its CES and the SP2 was used,,,how cool is that!A sure sign of longetivity.

That's great news James

Even if it's a bit too soon to know the precise release date, rather than folks keep asking can you say when you will be able to confirm it ? (and the trade in arrangements...)

And on a related note, do you release worldwide at the same time, or do it in phases ? (reason for asking being that I'm in the UK requiring a different PSU)

Hi,

Usually release in Canada first as any issues are easily dealt with.

James,

Can you provide an update with the SP3 regarding price range, specs, timeframe, etc?  Even if they aren't solid.  I'm probably going to decide if I will stay "downsized" with two-channel or bring back a HT setup soon.

Hi James,

If you need a beta tester for the SP3.0, I would be more than willing to help out, and I am located in Canada.

My current Bryston gear consists of:

SP1.7
7B ST X 4
5B ST <- was just in for servicing and let me say you guys are the absolute best when it comes to service!
4B NRB

I am looking at adding soon a BDA-1 and BDP-1.

I have lots of HDMI sources to test the unit with, Blu-ray (Pioneer Elite BDP-09FD, Panasonic DMP-BD55 and DMP-BD10, PS3 80 GIG), HD DVD (HD-A35, HD-XA2, HD-A1, XBOX 360), BEV HD PVR, HTPC.  My primary display is a JVC HD750/RS20.

If you are interested just send me a PM.

Thanks for your consideration.

Making headway Markus - 2 units have to be sent to Dolby and DTS for approvals and 1 is coming home with me :thumb:
