Hi James,
"...The new Bryston BDP1 digital music player and SP3 surround processor/pre-amplifier will officially be launched at our Bryston Event. ..."

Will we be able to get SP2 trade-in value details and SP3 pricing on Saturday ?

Thanks.

Don't forget SP1 and SP1.7 that were upgraded to SP2's. :)

Trading-in used equipment back to the manufacturer could really open the proverbial “can of worms” on many fronts. If individuals wish to upgrade, sell their equipment privately and then move on. Seems to be a very simple solution for everyone involved.

Be well…

Hi Folks,

We are considering maintaining production of the SP2 because if you do not need or want HDMI (hi-res) the SP2 still makes a great sound.  Also the SP2 will still be much cheaper than the SP3.

With the world slow to spend I would say as long as the SP2 sells keep making it...........

Is there a price on the SP3 ? (I am a little behind on SP3 info)

Will it be available in a rack mount 19 with rack mount holes?

Hi James,

I think that makes a lot of sense.  I have a SP1.7 in my system and find it very enjoyable and could consider using it for many years assuming that future releases continue to have Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1 formats.

On a separate note are you still overing the  upgrade from the SP1.7 to the SP2?

Best,

John

Is there still plans for an outboard box with HDMI inputs?

It would be a HUGE mistake for bryston to take trade-ins ( imho).  I have always wondered and speculated what companies do with such trades.....get it?  I think it could actually hurt Bryston's rep as then people would start saying bryston is stripping the units and using second-hand parts to make their new units...
Sell it and move on.That is the nature of technology.....

I think James mentioned that he was considering modifying the trade in units to multi channel analogue pre-amps, and selling them as such, nothing misleading there, in my opinion.

James,

the SP2 shows "Clipping" on its display if the incoming analog signal has more than 2V (Bypass excluded).

the same for the SP3?
