ROOM CORRECTION & BASS CONTROL EQ
For room correction many firms (Denon/Onkyo/Integra/NAD....) adopt the AUDYSSEY system as this is what they develop.
They are also now about to release a BASS correction system as well.
Maybe that is an option for you rather than re inventing the wheel - with respect to room correction.
The Audyssey system has a "user" version and then a more advaned "installer" version............Installers will aready have the more advanced mic kit and software required.
HDMI OUTPUTS
If you are going to build an Audio only unit that is an EXCELLENT idea as many projectors and TVs already adopt video processing and upscale, even source players these days come equiped with video processing.
I would ask that even if you go audio only that is has two HDMI outputs as this is the norm these days, and that BOTH can run at the same time - these will be pass through for video (and maybe audio).
These are used for people that have a TV and Projector connected, the output removes the need for a HDMI splitter.
All current audio formats and HDMI 1.3a,b,c, 1.4 whatever today's up to date version is !!!!
HDMI INPUTS
More than four HDMI inputs please - OR built with 4 HDMI and an optional card to add 2/4 more ???
AUDIO OUTPUTS
Assignable balanced outputs - Onkyo already offer balanced bi amp outputs for front left & right - I would like to see bi amp options for front left right AND CENTER rear as well, For many years I have been setting up DSP based multi in/out devices and a simple perameter recall allows change of input/output use.
MORE THAN ONE bass output connector - This seems to be missed by so many companies.
CONTROL
RS232 - modules released for Crestron,AMX,Pronto...... at time of product release - This help the unit get specified at the design stage of a system.
IR with an INPUT for IR from a control system
TRIGGERS
Three or more 12v assignable triggers
Lexicon MC12 had 2, Onkyo 886 has 3...........
12v triggers are used for screen control, Amp switch on, mains control sytems, curtains...........
It is essential to have a number of these to allow various states of use.
THANK YOU
These suggestions may have been in this thread already but I have joined it late.......
Many more ideas / suggestions available if you would like.........
