Serial #10 has already arrived to Thailand; and I'm green with envy my lucky audiophile compatriot.   :green:

Would like to know how it sounds compared to the Aesthetix Calypso Signature?

Unfortunately, the SP3 is not mine. Sorry for the confusion.

Got these pictures from my local dealer's forum; the unit belongs to another customer.  I think he used to have BP26.  Will ask how does the SP3 compares to BP26 in his set and report back later.  Cheers.

My order is in!  (Go Team "Black 19" Rackmount")  :thumb:    Somewhat sadly / somewhat fondly put my SP 1.7 on CanuckAudioMart yesterday.

It has been a few years since my last Bryston "unboxing" (it was a BCD-1, followed by a long night of listening) so I'm looking extremely forward to the SP3!

Keep the pictures coming folks - they look fantastic.

How would you compare it to Anthem d2v2?

Hi James,

I am enjoying the SP3 very much.  It is a huge improvement over my old setup: Oppo 93 feed to SP1.7 by 5.1 analog inputs or by digital coax inputs.

The most significant improvements that I have noticed are:

1) No relay clicking when switching between different digital signals; it was a major distraction on the older SP1.7.

2) Automatic decoding of 5.1 MC SACD is superior to the Oppo 93 decoding through SP1.7 analog inputs.

3) The ability to set the subwoofer crossovers for the front, center, and rear channels separately is an improvement as well.

The sound is extremely detailed and refined.  In my opinion you hit a home run with this one.  Looking forward to many years of use.

Best,
John

James,

are the different sample rates (32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, 192) shown in the display of the SP3 during playback?

If you want them too - it is an option in the menu setup.

Received it today. Tested it with a trafo - First where it counts: Audio quality is fantastic (as can be expected from Bryston).

It was fun to disconnect 10’s of RCA cables and replace them with 3-4 HDMI cables. No analog to pick up hum, no RCA plugs that corrode and require caig gold treatment.

A surprise I was not aware that the processor had a web server. Really cool mockup of the device with working buttons – I was able to control it from my laptop.

The manual is unclear about what are the online capabilities and how to use them: (e.g. how to set up a music server, what is the USB port for, and how to use it USB, etc.).

Overall a very solid machine, well built, functions well, and more importantly, sounds absolutely fantastic, perhaps even better than its predecessor the SP1.7.

Also – a special thank you for taking care of our special circumstances and delivering this to us prior to the movers arriving.

Hi James,

I have taken the plunge and purchased the new SP3 :green:.

It will be sad to see my SP2 go, but advantages of SP3 should ease the cost that I have incurred :thumb:.

Question-1, Will Bryston give provide a promotional gift for the first 100 buyers as you did for the BDP-1?

Question-2, I now need a .5 m XLR cable and wonder if I can get it with my SP3 order?

Ciao, Luigi

Hi Luigi

I should have thought of the first 100 idea - we have already sold over 100 so can't go there.

No problem with the cable - let your dealer know we will include it :thumb:

I believe James said in an erlier post that it was 1500.00 for the SP-2, and 1000.00 for the SP-1.7.

Now that`s a generous trade in,maybe James would take my AV-8 as a partial trade :thumb:.

Actually if and when I get the SP-3,the AV-8 would be superb backup.
