The mapleshade isoblocks are 2" thick and compress more ie more sqooshy hence more damping isolation. link at grainger. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/itemDetailsRender.shtml?ItemId=1611629511

That same idea, is used in HVAC units for vibration mounts. A buddy of mine gave me a box of 50 for free some time ago. I'll email him and ask about more information, but they are cheap.

I would be very careful with these. I bought several Wagner HVAC pads, as they look to be the exact same material as the Mapleshade Isolbocs. I have experimented with full size 4 inch pads, and ones that are cut down to be the same size as the Mapleshade. I never could get them to work well in my system. I tried them under transports, DAC, power amps, and what not. Even Did my own iso-platforms with them. In my system they consistently resulted in a pronounced midrange and smeared bass response. Finally gave up on them.

Personally if you have the shelf room I would build a small shelf that would stand over one component and rest on the shelf rack. Probably put the power amp above the pre. Either that or put the pre on a botton shelf, and use an amp stand for the power amp, or some other component that gets used only occasionally.

It appears that this is a case of the seller just buying from a distributer then placing the audiogon ad and pocketing the difference for a quick ~66% profit...... :icon_twisted: I imagine that he is buying in quantity so the profit margin would be greater.

I wonder if the mapleshade pads are really that different from the generic ones discussed here.  I have both and have seemed to mix up the sets. Either im a total idiot (which is a strong possiblitly) or i have a hard time telling them apart.

The mapleshade isoblocks are 2" tall. The others are 1" tall. The rubber treads are rotated 90 degrees as you move from top to bottom on the isoblocks. link http://www.mapleshaderecords.com/audioproducts/isoblocks.php
