Hello all. I am returning to audio gear after a 12 year hiatus. From my old equipment, the only thing I kept is a much loved pair of Tower II Special Edition speakers. These are the older model without the carbon fiber mids and woofers. I am looking to upgrade my speakers a smidge until I can afford a new pair of VMPS speakers. Can anyone please recommend successful modifications that they have completed or heard of?

My speakers will be driven by the McCormack DNA-225 and a Sonic Frontiers Pre 2 that I recently purchased.

Hi Perry,

You might consider a couple upgrades and tweaks.

1) Upgrade the 12 bass driver to the 12" Megawoofer, or even the 12" UltraMega

2) Vitrify the Passive Radiator

3) Bypass the "toggle" switch with "jumpers" if your mdel has them.

If yours the 25th Anniversary Edition?

Thanks for responding. I was beginning to think no one would respond! I am sure my speakers are not a special edition, just a basic pair, as I do not see any special designation on them. I will call you, as I am not to far from L.A., and would like to hear a new set of VMPS speakers.

What are the differences between the 25th Anniversary Edition and the "standard" Tower II? Any crossover upgrades?
