running integrated and a pre

Hello all,
Does anyone run a preamp in front of an integrated amp? I dont see how it could be bad, but I could see how it interupts the idea of short path circuitry.

i run a second system in my kitchen off my main pre's tape outputs.  the second system is a separate amp/pre.  i don't tink it's subtracting too much from the kitchen system - changes in amplification/preamplification in the kitchen are readily apparent.  i have had integrateds in the kitchen,  in the past.  and, the kitchen rig works fine even when the main pre is off.  but, other than someting like what i'm doing, i really dunno why ya would wanna do this...  some folk want remote, so they run someting like a placette passive remote in front of their pre's...

thanks doug,
the reason is because I have it already. I will audition the IRD purist soon for a pre and if I dig it I will run the two amps I'm sitting on off of it. An integrated tube for the high end and SS for the low. I wouldnt mind getting a different tube amp for the highs if I could afford it. I am pretty sure I will start saving up to purchase the IRD first though. so until then...
