Does the bottom of your speakers have holes already drilled for spikes. Can you post a pic of your speakers? If they are very stable ie not very tall, or squatty , or very heavy, you may be able to just put a cone under each corner. Lots of traffic close to the speakers or children and tall thin speakers will not work. Will they be on hardwood floor or on carpet? Putting one or two blocks of wood under the speaker, to raise them off the floor, will help you place the cones. If you have no holes drilled you could use a drill and tap the the holes in the wood. The holes must be drilled straight of course. After that it's not too hard to tap the wood hole straight.

I just got 8 of these for speaker stands, they are very nice for the money. I just ordered 4 more for feet for a tube amp I'm building. They are large for component feet, but I'm going to make the amp's chassis out of 8/4 maple...

As far as attaching them, there is a threaded hole where the string attaches (the brass thing holding the string unscrews). You could bolt through the top, or get a threaded insert and threaded rod to attach them.

The link posted on this thread is also the only way I can find them. If you search for plumb bob on the HF website, all you get is an 8 oz bob for 2x the price...

Heavy duty double sided carpet installation tape works well for installing brass cones. I used it for installing cones under my 50 lb. speaker stands.

rajacat. I would be concerned that for under speakers that the carpet tape "may" reduce the effectiveness of the cones. It may be worth it to try, and A/B it with and without the tape.
