This one has "watts" on it.

Spoke with mbarnes on Yahoo this afternoon (2:30am his time). He sent me this pic and a few others I will post in a different topic. He is very busy with the norhtec stuff, and they are also doing some new 4.0 and 3.0 versions.

nOrh has only been able to ship 16 Le Amp 2s so far due to supplier problems. The economy has dried up credit for many supplier in Thailand which has caused chain reactions for suppliers - not getting paid on one job affects getting parts for another job. nOrh has had 200 cases for 2 months and paid for for months before that -  waiting for the last of the parts for the rest to be completed.

Le AMPII shipping
I believe my 2 LE AMP's are almost ready to ship. Since I live in Australia, the power needs to be switched from 110V to 220V. I have been told that once this has been done, they are ready for shipment. It has been a long, long wait and I am really looking forward to hearing these amp's.   You can understand I am a happy guy.

Thanks for the update, however slight it was.  Seems like the least thing MB could do is to maintain communications and provide some type of update instead of misleading customers.  "We are two weeks from shipping...." (MB in April of this year).

But the amp, yes, it does look excellent!  Hope we will be seeing the real thing before Christmas.

I do wish we'd get something from MB himself.  I've been very patient thus far, but even I am looking at other amps.  While I think the LAII is very promising, I'm looking for an amp that I can actually buy.

I also find it a little strange that after trumpeting the virtues of the overbuilt PS that he'd have it tuned down.  So much is still up in the air.

Right now I have 3 units on order, but after this many months I'm beginning to think I might have to cancell my order and get something else.  This wouldn't be a huge tragedy:  we are getting our amps for $200 ea but we have to pay shipping.  After the intro period, I think the amps will be $300 but shipping will be included.  I figure that means about $50 difference.

If I do go with something else, I'd still keep the LAII in mind for my 2nd system- once the amps actually exist, that is...

I'm guessing the Le Amp II should be lighter than the original Le Amp (switching power supply)?  I hope the shipping doesn't cost more than what the original Le Amp's shipping did.

I also noticed the power switch is vertical now, instead of horizontal like the older prototype photos.  I think the vertical one looks much more pleasing.

Michael has not been very public about the delay's - to some degree I can understand this as I work for a supplier and it is really a hard predicament for Michael to be in.  To be fair to him, he has been very responsive to my emails and has always kept me in the loop. BTW the only reason I posted my earlier quote is just to indicate that the LE AMP is being shipped even if it is slow moving.

I guess that I'm glad to see that there is some possible light at the end of this tunnel, but frankly the wait and circumstances have dulled my desire for these amps.  I'm still not certain what I want to do, but I no longer really need the amps.  Should I decide to cancel, how would I go about it?  I had always figured that I would just cancel once I was contacted about shipping, but if there is a way to do it beforehand I'd like to know.

Thanks.

Rob,
Since you've already waited 6 months, I would encourage you not to cancel your order since you are que for the intro price, if you don't like them you can always sell them without losing out too much.

Food for thought.  Yeah, it would suck to cancel and then have the amps ship the next week! :x   My dilemna is that I suspect the Carver Pro ZR is a better amp.  Although at the very attractive price on the LE AMP II, I'm sure I could get my money out of 'em.

One option for me would be to get the ZR & one LeAmp II (for center channel use).

I'll think on it over the weekend.

"Barnes replies to every customer who takes the time to write"? No he does not. Try emailing him with questions about the new amp and see how long it takes for him to get back to you. I'll bet it's longer than the 6 days and counting that it's been since I emailed him with no reply. Did you by chance ask him why he hasn't bothered coming in here and answering his customers many questions, or is he just "too busy" with his other projects? Just curious.

I hear the tripath-based amps have their shortcomings even amongst the "digital" amps out there, so it's anyone's guess which of the LAII and the "digital" ZR is the better amp.
