Imod 4th gen into an Alpine car receiver?
« on: 30 Nov 2007, 02:38 pm »
Anyone knows if my Imod 4th generation will work if I plug it an Alpine car radio that has the Ipod adapter?

I know it will work if I use the headphone out of the Imod into the aux input of the Alpine but then I would have to select the songs with the Imod which is not very practical when you are driving a car!

Thanks for your help.

Presumably the ipod adapter connects to the pc port at the bottom?

No line out there anymore so unless you can connect both (and the Alpine may not allow you to select the aux in with the adapter connected) I suspect you will be out of luck.

Play it on shuffle and enjoy the ride :thumb:

Hum that's a bummer, thanks for the info Jim.  Yes the Alpine Ipod connector plugs into the PC port at the bottom of the Ipod.

So it seems like it will be shuffle like you say or I'll have to buy myself one of the new 160Gb classic Ipod dedicated to the car!  :green:

Hi LP,

Jim is correct... with the iMod you'll need to use the AUX input port.  However, you might be able to use the control/charging functions by connecting your Alpine cable to the dock port on the bottom, but the audio must enter your system via the AUX input.

Best regards,

Vinnie

Hey thanks Vinnie, one of my friend has an Alpine deck so as soon as I have a minute I'll hop by his place to try your suggestion.  He has a regular Ipod so maybe I'll convert him to Imod at the same time!  haha
