Emerald Physics CS2's at Zybar's

I know that people are waiting for a detailed account of the CS2's, but you are going to have to wait a bit longer - sorry.

Things are still breaking in and I want to get some hours on everything before posting any critical comments.

Until that time comes, I thought some pics and a few comments "might" hold people over... aa

Comments first:

-  Same dynamics, speed, attack, and detail that I heard at RMAF
-  The DCX-2496 is simply to use
-  General placement is also pretty easy
-  Good packing, easy to unpack and setup

Pics are coming soon...I need to downsize them as they are above the 2MB limit.

True about the "gotta be out in the room" thing?

Thanks

Looking forward to your impressions, George.... I thought they were sounding pretty damn good at RMAF!

Dirty job, but someone's gotta do it!

They should be out at least 3'.

They can be very close to the side walls.

George,

You don't owe anyone an apology.  And nobody expects intelligent criticism based a few moments in time.  Take your time. We can wait.

Thanks John.

Besides needing break in, my time will be tied up getting my HT finally up and running.

I'd imagine that cloth begins to waffle a bit during heavy bass passages :)

The CS2s were cranked up a couple of times at Tweekgeek's get-together last weekend, and I don't recall ever seeing the fabric move.  It is stretched reasonably taut across the frame.  (Don't forget that the woofers are dipoles.)

No waffling or flapping.

Just measured bass strong into the 20's!   :o

Yahoo!  Congrats on receiving your new speakers George.  They look great and
probably sound even better!  Enjoy your time with them and experimenting with amp
combinations. :D

So I take it there's no way to remove that cloth and enjoy the drivers? That just doesn't seem right to expect that the average audiophile would want their drivers hidden.  :dunno: I know I wouldn't  :D

One of these days George, I hope to have an opportunity to stop in and have a listen.  :thumb:

I'm sure you could by risking the aesthetics.  I did that to a pair of Acoustats.  :duh: Dumb, stupid, dumb! Audiophiles are about the only people who might be better off blind.

At what position?  Not saying it isn't there, just wondering where you measured from?   FWIW, you can't measure dipole bass nearfield, your suppose to back up a number of feet.

About 10' to 12' away at the listening position.

This is with the DCX-2496 doing some EQ.

Please explain why you felt dumb, stupid, dumb? There are those who feel the same way with these covers being left on because of internal issues (read the wife).

Truth be told... they are not a visually appealing speaker. The Horn/waveguide on top looks almost foreboding.
Just my opinion. Though the incredible reviews about their sound kind of negate the visual downside.

A - Acoustats look a lot better with the socks on than off.

B - I was unable to put the socks back up as nice as they were in the first place.

C - The resale value was affected.

D - Didn't gain anything other than satisfied curiosity.
