Why not just use one of the SM-70s with a Squeeze Box? You can't save much more space without giving up something else (speakers, performance). I understand that the SM-70 performs better as monoblocks, but the change in room size/quality could make more difference.
You'd be going from 80 wpc to 25 wpc. Thats only a 5 dB drop, which could be fully compensated for by moving into a smaller room. Besides, don't you have the space to just stack them?
The Squeeze Box is small, has a remote with volume control, also inputs internet audio streaming (radio), can be modded (see Bolder Audio circle below), and is in the future direction of audio. It can sit on top of the SM-70. With the money you're talking about you might do the mods on the Squeeze Box up front.
