Thanks for posting, Joe. We've certainly heard a lot about you and wish you the best with your mission. I know in the short time we got to know John, he was extremely passionate about bringing his library of local artists out on recordings to share with a larger audience. We're glad to hear you are willing to take on the task of carrying this wish of John's through. If there is anything we can do to help you with the library or anything else in the near future, please feel free to ask us. We were all touched by John's grace, humility and immense talent and we hope to make some contribution to helping ensure John's legacy reaches more ears. Welook forward to meeting you and hopefully working with you in the near future.

Hi Joe,
Thanks for registering and filling us in on a few of the details.
Let me know if you want some help archiving. Though my open reel deck is just average, John mentioned that he had a couple of Revox's. I could give them a quick tune up (pinch rollers, demag the heads, cleaning the board contacts) and rebiasing to bring them back into proper form. I would need to find a copy of the Revox biasing test tones and the manual but that shouldn't be too difficult to find, John may even have a copy of them in all of his stuff. I'd also be happy to invest in a decent 24 bit A/D converter for the occasion. Same goes for Johns cassette tape collection. I would be happy to give one of his Dragons the once over to make sure you get the best performance out of them you can.
Be sure to let us know if there is anything we can do to help. We've got quite a few members with varied backgrounds and abilities that would likely be more than willing to help.

Hi Joe, you may not know me by my handle but I'm Tim from The Sound Room , formerly of Best Sound. We are all delighted that you are going to continue Johns work. For the short time that John was with us at Gas he became a much loved friend. He will be truly missed. If there is any way that either myself or any of us at Gas can assist you with cataloging Johns work please let us know. I think you will have many volunteers.
Thanks

Joe,
Welcome to GAS. Thanks for posting, and I'm excited that you're continuing things for John. I've been out of it for the last couple of days, since I had a couple of concerts with Frank Sinatra, Jr. at Touhill, and my internet has been down. I was just getting on the site today to post the info about a possible date in November for John's service, and saw that you'd already done that. We'll look forward to hearing any updates you have, as well as helping you archive John's work.

I just received word and was given permission to post that John's Memorial service will be on Saturday, October 27th at 11am. This will take place at Christ Church Cathedral, downtown St. Louis. If anything changes I will let you all know.

For anyone who needs it, here is the address for Christ Church Cathedral:
1210 Locust Street
St. Louis, MO 63103
Also, Joe is looking for any photos that you might have of John, which might be put on display at the Memorial service. I know that some of you took pictures at various gatherings that John attended, so please contact me or Joe. You might want to print up copies if they are digital shots, or just write your name on the back for regular photos to make sure that you get them back.
Regards,
Adrian

If anyone grabbed last Sunday's paper(Oct. 21) you should find John's obituary in there.

Just to let you guys know, There is a gathering scheduled after the memorial at Guido's on the hill. The photo boards will be set up there, not at the cathedral. We have reserved the back room from 2pm-5pm.
