CES 2003 - Any Audition/Picture Requests?

All,

My dad and I are about to make our annual trip to CES and decided we would try something new this year. We will of course be visiting with those manufacturers we already represent, but we are also always looking for additional lines to pick up. So, in addition to those we already plan on visiting, feel free to let us know about products you are interested in and would like us to check out for you. We will do our best to give you an objective and fair opinion of what we heard/saw (let us know if you want pics also, as we will have a digital camera with us).

Of course, feel free to let us know if you think this is a stupid idea (probably wouldn't be the first)

I would be curious to see what you think about Ed Meitner's new SACD DAC. I know front end stuff is hard to talk about, because the sound depends on everything after it, but I would still wonder what you think of it.

I didn't know Ed was building an SACD DAC. Is this a first in Audio? I haven't heard of it before.

EMM Labs (Ed Meitner's outfit in Calgary) produces mods to allow the Philips SACD 1000 unit to transmit SACD data to their proprietary DAC 6(DAC 6 as in 6 channels). There is a rumor that ED will be producing a 2 channel DAC and maybe we'll hear something more concrete from those at CES. Current cost of mods to SACD 1000 is $999 US and DAC 6 is $6K US...

When I still lived there, I talked to one of the guys who works with Ed a few times. I really should have tried to get in there for a snoop around. His place was just around the corner from where I worked. Oh well.

If you have a chance it would be nice to know what you think of the Trinaural processor from Spread Spectrum Technologies (James Bongiorno/Ampzilla 2000). I believe it will be used in the VMPS room.

I have a friend who collects those ceramic high voltage cable whatsits. Maybe I should tell him he could make a fortune by selling them to audiophiles paranoid about carpet fibers interfering with the palpability of the vocals thanks to 3 picofarads of evil skin effect on the 13th winding of the outer shield.

Plus there's the added bonus of acting as trip wires for would-be burglars!

If you guys have time to check out the Norh Pyramids your impressions would be greatly appreciated. Considering them for rears in HT setup. My configuration would be Norh Marble 9s as mains and center with the Pyramids in the rear. Odyssey Dual Mono for mains and Denon 3802 for the rest.
