a pic to brighten your night

The scene was there for the most part, although the cloud cover was rather thin and moving very fast.  A shutter speed that captured good cloud definition blew out the moon to a white ball, a faster shutter speed got all moon and no clouds.  Shooting at ISO 1600 rendered some good shots, but the noise is too crazy.  This one had a good balance.  I always shoot at ISO 80 99% of the time.  A little extra clouds were added from 2 shots and some curves, but otherwise no super-cheaty funny business.

Now I just need trees and less wind...

Nice photo nathan....the "Harvest Moon"....catch it early as it rises...the time is right.... :thumb:

"The yellow or golden or orangish or reddish color of the moon shortly after it rises is a physical effect, which stems from the fact that, when you see the moon low in the sky, you are looking at it through a greater amount of atmosphere than when the moon is overhead." (Harvest Moon on Wikipedia)
