i own a pair of malbecs, but they are currently sitting in their shipping boxes waiting to be returned to mick once he completes a cabernet for me. they definitely weren't my cup of tea and my pair had some issues out of the gate, but i think my problems were limited to my pair only. mick seems to have changed the configuration and internal layout from what i've heard of other owners. mated with a supratek chardonnay, the malbecs were very resolving and almost solid state like in presentation, but without any hint of edginess or glare. i felt they could have been a tad more airy though. the soundstage seemed particularly wide with a fair amount of height as well. i don't recall it being deeper than other amplifiers i've heard though. you might want to browse around the a'gon supratek thread and see who else owns a pair and email them directly.
