I have 1 IEC filter which I did not mention just above. It's on my SACD not the PE V S/AD as indicated. The IEC improvements were big from the get go and day 10 was another major jump up. More improvement was heard thru day 22. Very big Alan, with big bang for the bucks.

Alan,
For whatever reason my PE will not allow me to have another large 3rd party pc plugged into the top portion of my duplex. The plastic wing on top is in the way. I need, instead, to use a 3 prong extension plug on the bottom, then plug the PE into that...a little sloppy and goofy looking. Can it be clipped/sawed/broken off? I'm not sure it's function anyway. Thx

Continue with the IEC filters and start to mix and match the non-circuits for tuning. Adding a pair of PE II's with a PE, S/AC, IV, or III can make or break a system. The added filtering / tonal benefit from tuning non-circuits can offer huge musical satisfaction if done properly. I listed multiple circuit examples in the past based on number of duplex outlets...the following offers massive improvements in resolution and stage performance:

PE II > PE> PE IV > PE > PE II
PE II > PE > PEIII > PE > PE II
PE II > S/AC > PE II
PE II > PE > PE > PE > PE > PE II

All suggestions offer superb results.

NEWS: I just signed the contract to have the frequency isolation foot manufactured. A set of 4 has an optimum load requirement of 75 to 100 pounds...they will be sold in sets of 4 and 8. The foot is superb for transformer based power conditioners, amps, and flat panel TVs with stand. We will also have a smaller load foot at the same time....best used between 20 and 40 pounds. Both foot designs can be used in concert with other types of coupling and resonate feet to make the ultimate isolation stand. We will be offering acrylic isolation stands in multiple sizes in the not so distant future....pre-orders will start around the middle of September.

It looks like I will be home for the next several weeks...I cracked a couple of my ribs yesterday and the doc says I have to be out of commission for the next several weeks...no heavy lifting, so it looks like I won't be hitting the road until the Coop tour in November.

I live downtown Chicago in a 225 unit skyscraper. When the Audioprism Noisesniffer is plugged in, it sounds like i'm beating a baby whale to death.

Recently i've been playing with Quiet Lines, also from Audioprism.

My place is 1200 SF, has 120 amp service at the breaker panel and has copper wiring and modern breakers.

I own 5 Quiet Lines. When i install more than 3 of them, the sound gets shrilly and constricted. When i place a Quiet Lines on the circuit that my gear is plugged into, the shrilly noises come out as well.

I am quite happy keeping the 3, but can't shake the idea that much better ac cleansing is avail.

How do I start with Alan Maher's products? There are so many, its a bit confusing.

It depends on what you want to do? The PE series is designed to be a total house solution. The smaller units...which provide more than 30 times more filtering compared to the Quiet Line, are used to attack noise at the source and provide a tool to harmonically tune each circuit in the house in order to completely banish and eliminate all forms of electrical noise/distortion. The higher end PE V series physically provides 4 to 6 times the filtering of our smaller units. This is where the question "what do you want to do" comes into play....we could just look at minimal spot filtering or total component, circuit isolation, and tuning. In order to answer your question I need to understand working budgets....email me and we can discuss various options.

Right now we recommend a 3 prong approach for power filtering.

1. Start off with 1 or 2 S/AC units to act as the main circuit PLC.
2. Look at our Reference Power Center to be used as the main electrical hub.
3. The V IEC filter offers superb component isolation and power factor correction.

As an option I also highly recommend our Reference power cable per component. This set up is slowly catching on with the AC members as our maximum bang for the buck configuration. Some of our other filters offer more aggressive filtering, but this set up gels beautifully together and offers resolution performance comparable with $8k and $9k PLC's. Everything listed will be on sale during our upcoming Labor Day weekend blow out.

Email answered. The S/AC is a popular filter and one of my favs from the product line....it's a great filter to start. The S/AC is a parallel unit and it plugs into the same duplex or the next one over from your system. The S/AC offers very good noise reduction up to about 1000 feet from the source. The trick is to plug the filter in and leave it alone for about 12 days, during that time you will experience a harmonic roller coaster that will finally settle down and develop around day 12. If you plan to tweak the a/c blades with something like QSG, then you must allow the QSG 24 to 25 days on an electrical circuit to settle down before judging the filters performance.

Can a S/AC be plugged into the same circuit, but a few outlets away from my amps? Its the only duplex outlet avail.

From the breaker panel, the avail outlet would be #1 in a series of 5. My gear is plugged into #5.

2 of the outlets are hidden behind a soundproofing barrier, but could be exposed.

Yes. One or Two S/AC units would be great installed into outlet 1.

Alan, will an S/AC have any effect on my system if it is plugged into an outlet a few feet from my system but on a different circuit? My dedicated system outlets are completely full.

As long as the circuit is on the same side of the panel as the system circuit the S/AC will have an effect.....I suggest you read about our tuning methods in the paper available on our web site. Another one to ask is Paul Bui....he did an excellent job tuning his circuits with the basic package following the instruction in the literature....in his situation the tuning method replaced $$$$ PS Audio PLC and a couple others...you would have to ask him for the full details, I don't remember off the top of my head.

I would recommend tuning the circuits for your application....a pair of PE II's with the S/AC on the same circuit will provide a very nice starter set up. Another option you might want to consider is looking at our IEC filters....the V IEC is the exact same filter as the S/AC, just a different delivery set up. Install the V IEC on the first component in the chain and it will first provide power factor correction, component isolation, and a second filtered power supply for the selected component.....at the same time it will also act as a S/AC at the wall for the rest of the system.....you get 2 for the price of 1 with this set up. Later on you could add a second or a third IEC filter and tune the non-av circuits at a later date for a final tweak. If it was up to me this is the option I would choose for maximum bang for the buck.

The "Mac Daddy" would be our S/AC at the wall, RPC for the components, Reference power cable, and either a V IEC or Pro Custom IEC per component pending budget. Compared to the AM set up I would go with the Pro Custom IEC set up.
