I have installed the PE S/AC along with 4 PE's to great effect. The PQ on my LCD TV and projector really got an unexpected jolt--awesome!

Thank-you....the ribs hurt like hell....hairline crack on one and broke two in two different locations.....everything is cool as long as I don't breathe

We will be offering a few 2009/2010 products in very limited quantity throughout the weekend. Things to look for are the highly anticipated RPC v2 and Reference v2 cables, and the new dual quad spiral Dominator power cord and interconnect series.....this one is a special treat....I don't expect to release the line until the 2nd half of 09'....the pro market will get the first glimpse right after the holiday season is over....just to provide a little info....the Dominator power cord is a 9ga coiled lead with a 8 ga twin coil ground. The cable is designed with 3 grades of metal (4N copper, 6N copper, and 4N silver), 3 different insulators, cryo treated conductive treatment and a/c connectors. The cable filters a/c between dc up to 25 GHz. This one has replaced the 3 Pro Custom and surge units I normally use prior to the Plitron NBT isolation trannie. In order to test the new line I stripped all the filtering out of the system except the 4 RPC's, Hammond chokes, and Reference power cords and interconnects (analog rca and xlr / video) that I normally use. As of now I would say the Dominator is a gigantic leap forward compared to our Plasma and SR v2 designs....I have tested it on analog (amps, open reel, tube and solid state preamps), digital (CD transport/player, dac, recorder, and DAT), video (DVD and HTPC upscale video), high-end HTPC designs (my custom build...used for lossless audio playback and video), and my extremely modified Marshall 1959HW (my baby...lately I have been using a Gibson Robot LP Studio...the combination is magic...normally I use a Les Paul Supreme with the amp....I picked up the guitar last April....love it) and it works miracles in all applications. I have been working on it as a pet project since early January and I am super pleased with the final package.

The Dominator IC is based off the same wire geometry as the power cord. The cable is designed with 3 grades of metal (6N copper, 5N silver, and 14K (58.334%) gold), 3 differrent insulators, and gold plated beryllium copper RCA and XLR connectors.

The HDMI 1.3b samples came in...the picture quality is fantastic....we did a few things to the design that jacked up the price just a bit, but the extras were well worth it. Prices will start at $100 for a 3 foot cable. Jen and I will be out of town this weekend, but the first chance I get next week I will update the website info....I will be ordering some cables next week in various sizes...if anyone is interested or requires a cable in longer lengths let me know before Tuesday and we can add it to the order.

Hi Alan, I just got my PE III in the mail today. The PE III has both the Hot and Neutral blades but also the ground plug. My question, is the grounding of the PE III essential for it's proper working? Just asking because I might take the PE III overseas to the Philippines where there is no grounding in their electrical system.

The Philippines is grounded, it is just not earth grounded, instead it's grounded via the neutral. Either way the filter will work just fine without the earth ground connection. Filter polarity will become very important. The filter will also sound different pending the polarity. Reversing the polarity will create an out of focus image that sounds grainy in the upper mids/lower treble. Correct polarity will sound focused, grain-free, and extended/sweet in the lower treble and top octave. The difference is noticeable to the non-trained ear....all you have to do is listen to vocals and string instruments.

With that said, how does the III sound in the system?

Power cords help filter incoming a/c for the pc/monitor and filter the noise leaving the PSU. In our house I have had excellent results using the Reference powerr cord on our HTPC, multiple servers, and LCD TV....in my daughters classroom (she is home schooled) I use the Studio Reference Jr. on the pc because of the limited filtering I use in that room and a Reference for the LCD monitor. Day to day internet image looks better, but it's when she streams a video is when you can really tell the difference in the picture quality. As for the pc itself it will actually run smoother, load programs faster, surf the net faster, and offer a major upgrade in audiophile playback and rip performance. Cleaning the harmonics near the CPU clock speed offers tremendous upgrade potential. I also use a couple RPC's, Plitron NBT isolation transformer, 3 Pro Customs, 1 Surge Interrupter, 5 Hammond 193L chokes, and 3 Reference One filters with my HTPC set up....each brings something different to the table....now that I'm developing the new Reference and Dominator line I have stripped a few filters from the system to allow me to develop other areas.

Alan I see some times you and others seem to use multiple chokes on the same outlet. How do you implement multiple chokes on let's say a open outlet. Are two 193m chokes wire into one ac plug and then plugged into the outlet? Thanks, Paul

I don't use multiple chokes on the same outlet, mine are strategically placed around the circuit and throughout the system at key locations to maximize performance. All the different types of filtering I used are tonally designed to work with one another in the way that it's set up. The best advice I can give is to spend an afternoon plugging a choke into each outlet on the circuit, wait 30 minutes to allow the choke to set up, and make notes which location sounds best and then go back and install a choke into each of the good sounding outlets. The 193M is best at the wall application and the 193L sounds better at most IEC inlet applications. Don't be afraid to mix up the 193 L and M applications if one model sounds better at a particular location.

Thanks for the advice and the clarification regarding the different usages of the 193M and the 193L.

So a 193M at the wall. 193L at the iec inlet. Plugged into a open power conditioner outlet ... a 193M ?

Out of curiousity, why wouldn't you use a 193m at iec inlet but only at the wall outlet ? As always, thanks for all the great advice.

You could....it depends on the type of power conditioner. Chokes do well with transformer based power supplies (amplifiers) and conditioners, so if you have an isolation or balanced transformer then I would recommend the choke installed, on the other hand if the PLC is a simple parallel capacitor design, then I would still recommend the choke installed at the wall and IEC inlet.

Chokes are tuning tools...meaning, the model installed at the IEC inlet will greatly depend on the component in question. The 193L is only 5H and the 193M is 10H. 5H roll off first octave in order to thin out the bass and give the impression of greater control and more low end extension. 10H neutralize the first octave roll off and offer more weight in the middle bass frequencies....on the wrong component a 10H choke can slow things down, I would only recommend the M at the component end if the component was super bright, edgy in the upper mids, or lack any hint of lower midrange warmth/bloom. If the component already shows a hint of lower mid warmth stick with the 193L at the IEC inlet. The suggestion I made provides the best of both worlds, the M at the wall will act as the underlining character for the L. The component will still see the razor tight signature of the L, but now the M will add a little extra bass punch and definition....you will also experience a cleaner sounding upper mid/lower treble to give the impression of more extension up to top octave without loosing any control.

In the near future I would like to replace the 193M, that is sharing an outlet with my Monster 7000HTPS power conditioner (which I believe is balanced), with a PE V s/ac. Is that a good place to start. Many thanks! Paul
