If the distribution amp sounds musical then this would be a good solution.

Of course this approach would require an active crossover (building a separate passive for each two drivers would be impractical). I haven't heard this amp, but it's the one Linkwitz recommends for use with the Orions, so I would expect it to sound ok - probably comparable to Rotels, Parasounds, etc., but without the gold RCA's and other audiobling.

Apologies for what may be a stupid question.  If one uses a parallel array which results in a very low overall impedance, is it possible (or beneficial) to add a series resistor in order to increase the overall impedance.  Is there any benefit or drawback to this approach.

The series resistor will eat up the power and blow up if it's not the right rating.

Assume a // driver combination of 1ohm and a 1ohm series resistor to get 2ohm impedance.

Half the voltage (and therefore power) will drop across the resistor.
This way you're losing half the power into the resistor.

Not a good idea.

Thanks Andrikos

I accept that one will lose some voltage but so would an arrangement where the drivers are wired in series/parallel for an overall impedance of eg 4 or 6ohm.
Would the resistor adversely affect the sound?
