Hi,
  I'm planning a long trip,so I'm thinking of downloading my flac music files from my Olive to a separate HD. The hd has to be formatted in FAT32,which I've read is a windows compatable format.
 Does anyone know if that means I can't someone convert the files to be used on my laptop w/itunes?
  Any suggestions,help appreciated...6 months w/o my music is a killer.

Not sure if you are still looking for an answer....

It sounds like you are attempting to use Olive's backup "feature" to pull all of the files from the unit.  Don't do it.  You will end up with one, disorganized directory. Not all of your files will make it because if there are any two songs with the same name, they will be overwritten and only one will remain.  Your best bet is to give yourself access to Olive's hidden "Music" folder and simply copy over the files over your network.
