Is 40+40 300VA transformer OK for AKSA100?

After some thingking, I decided to get my aksa100n up and running before heading to Valhalla - just to be safe as I don't want to blow any of the expensive BG caps. What I missing now is the transformer. Well looking at Jaycar and Dicksmith(DS) online catalog, there's no 35-0-35 300VA transformer that Hugh recommended.
These 28+28 300va from DS.

and
40v-0-40v 300va from jaycar.

Will be good if I can use the transformer from jaycar or DS as I get trade discount from them and they are within driving distance, but will appriciate if someone in NZ have another source.

TIA,
Sam

I think the 40 will be too high.

Why dont you just import one from Australia?

Pretty cheap...$AU50 each or so if I remember. Plus shipping.

I think I got the 33V, as Perth's voltage is often higher than 240-250V, which would mean even the 35's would be pushing it.

I cant remember exactly who I got mine off, I have a new computer and the details are on my other one.

Sam,

40-0-40V is too high.  This takes the output stage outside the SOAR ratings, and it could damage it.  You really need 35-0-35, or better still (if NZ power is like Aussie power, and chronically overvoltage) a 33-0-33Vac trafo.

Try Harbuch Electronics, here:  http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/harbuch/

You need the H2419.  These are excellent transformers.

Cheers,

Hugh

Thanks for the speedy response.

Found 3
H2419 recommended by Hugh
RS http://nz.rs-c.dk/servlet/dk.stibo.module.ShowModuleServlet?stockNo=2238235
and
Farnell

The one from RS is 8% regulation which I think is a good thing. Will email
Harbuch Electronics to find out more.

Again, thanks everyone.  :)

Hi SamL,

I've been using the Harbuch Electronics transformers with success. They make them on the premises at Hornsby and have hundreds, if not thousands in stock. I've never had much trouble getting wierd voltages such as 22V and 28V etc.

Very good prices as well, try for a discount, I was successful for my first 4.

If you decide to go with them,I live local to them so if I can help, let me know.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the offer :)  However, I'd fax my order in so it is a bit late to ask for discount.   :(
Their price of AU$50.30/ea is reasonable. The biggest cost to me is the freigh which is $AU66 and the total cost for the 2 transformer to get here will be around NZ$188.  :(
They are a bit more than jaycar but RS's and Farnell's 35-0-35 transformer are around NZ$125/ea ($250 for 2) so at the end it is not too bad.
Now, anyone here work for IBM AU?
